New google penalties on mobile pages!? Change in mobile rules!?

OK, so on Saturday I got an email from google webmaster tools that read as follows:

Quote:

Google has detected that your site may be showing different pages to users from those that are shown to Google. For example, users visiting from specific browsers, devices, or IP ranges may be redirected in ways that violate our quality guidelines. Cloaking and sneaky redirects are violations of Google's Webmaster Guidelines. As a result of your site using cloaking and/or sneaky redirects, Google has applied a manual spam action to http://wetpussygames.com/. There may be other actions on your site or parts of your site
I got a mobile version of my site at http://m.wetpussygames.com and I've had it for the past 3 years, without any changes really.

I assume google now has a problem with it because my mobile page is a bit different from my desktop page. It never had any problems with it for the past 3 years, so I don't know what's wrong now. I assume they are changing the rules.

What I think google has a problem with is that on my desktop page I got 3 categories: games, cartoons, and hentai videos, while the mobile page only displays the hentai videos (the hentai videos are exactly the same on both desktop and mobile sites). I don't display games and cartoons on mobile site because they are .swf flash so they won't work anyway on mobile...

I'm not sure what would be google-friendly way to do this? Does google want all content on both desktop and mobile to be the same? Even though some content won't work on mobile?

Did anyone else experience this? Any suggestions on what do to would be appreciated.

I assume duplicate contents?

You redirecting via htaccess?

Well yes according to guidelines desktop/mobile content must match, you cant have a special version of site for mobile.

I got hit with that same penalty again. I submitted a malware request to securi, and they have not found anything. All I was doing was redirecting my mobile traffic to a paysite because most mobile devices are not flash compatible. There is no fucking malware, now I can re-direct. @crazywhiteman, you did it the right way! You should not have recieved that penalty. Do you have banners up for a traffic company that could be injecting malware?

As i said,content must match on both desktop/mobile version.So for example,if you visit domain.com/page.html ,it should redirect to m.domain.com/page.html , not m.domain.com.

Use a fluid layout, no need to make a different version for your mobile site.

It is called "responsive template " and also know as "bootstrap template" as well :)

Why not just use responsive design?

czarina 09-15-2014 01:58 PM

Google sucks!

There was a time when AOL "was" the internet. They got too big for their own good and ended up being nothing. Google's time is not too far away. Mark my words.

Sounds great on the surface, but the design challenges are pretty steep. I've yet to see a responsive design that looks fantastic in all viewing formats.

If you start from the problem areas - phone browsers - and apply the design up through tablet to desktop, you end up with a less than optimal desktop design.

The ideal approach is to have different designs for each one, but this can get you into trouble with Google if you take advantage of the extra space for content on the desktop and tablet designs.

My theory is that Google is trying to slowly kill desktop use. And a big part of that is telling webmasters that the content of phone and desktop has to be the same.

My theory is that there is no conspiracy.

A world that moves away from Windows machines and uses Android and Chromebooks is more valuable to Google than the current hierarchy.
