Any big wine drinks? Buying futures?

I know there are plenty of Beer drinkers on this forum. I used to be one of you. As I got older my digestive system just couldn't handle it anymore. Not sure if it was the hops or what but I will save you the colorful mental picture I could paint. (currentlysober would like it)

So while I do have quite a few bottle's of rye on hand, It's hard not to get absolutely shit faced while drinking it. Not great on week night.

This is where wine's come in for me. Over the last year I've been buying wine futures. Cases of wine from vineyards that they project will hopefully be good. Weather, origin, family name, head of the vineyard are some of the things to take into consideration. If done correctly you can end up getting some excellent wine at a very good deal. If not done correctly, well, you still have a case of wine.

Anybody else buy futures? If so any resources you want to share would be appreciated.

Not even an hour ago I read about a $6 million wine fraud bust that just happened.

Just sayin'!

Buying wine futures? I have just studied about futures, never bought them. So, how much wine you usually get with one future? You talked something about a case?

If I would buy futures I am not that eager to actually get the product, it is because of one school book's cow example, where some broker got accidentally a bunch of cows. Maybe not exactly what that Wall Street guy wanted.

Read up on wine. The experts can not really tell them apart most of the time. By name and snob appeal.

Hey man, no offense but this is the response of someone who either,

A. has not drank much good wine.

B. does not understand the science behind wine making.

C. all of the above.

Taste is subjective. I love garlic, my wife hates it. What tastes good to someone may taste like shit to someone else.

Below is some wine I had a recently had. I am willing to bet that if I served you a glass of either one of these you would taste the difference versus some mass produced store bought wine.

You kinda dismissed my question. Tell at least the marketplace you use.

What i like to do is buy a few bottles that seem promising. Good value, then if i find some that are winners i will go back and get a bunch of them. Sometimes even all they have.
