Americans Are Ditching Their Citizenship FAST

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/tough-...102239667.html

Anyone seen that old sci-fi movie "Logan's Run"? The ones that want to be free are running and jumping over the fence to get to SANCTUARY. It seems that no-one wants to be a slave any more....... shame they will have to pay good money to do that - the application form alone costs $500 then they have to give up a proportion of their net worth.

do you post anything that isn't "anti-american"?

PR_Glen 09-10-2014 06:50 AM

Did you read your own article? They changed a tax law, and a handful of people are forced to abandon citizenship to avoid being taxed twice, which is stupid. How is that the same thing as people fleeing again?

There are probably more Income Tax and VAT Tax :REFUGEES: in high tax rate countries in Europe than the few tax refugees in the United States. France's confiscatory 75% top income tax bracket and businesses subject to VAT Tax rates of 20% to 28% in many EU countries come foremost to mind ...

Leaving so the government doesn't steal what is yours would be fleeing. They are just doing it in a legal manner so the government can no longer steal from them.

The wealthy are renouncing their citizenship in record numbers, and rightfully so. One should be permitted to choose where they live, where they are a legal resident, and what government to support financially, if any.

According to the article last year 2,999 people relinquished their citizenship. That is a about 1/100th of a percent of the population...can you feel the vortex caused by the "rush?"

RummyBoy 09-10-2014 08:07 PM

It depends on those figures being accurate as well as who those people are......... 1% earn a large proportion of the wealth. So if a chunk of the upper band are leaving, it's never good for the economy but it is also speaks to the attack against the 1%.
