Did Obama put his foot in his mouth again?

Russia 'abducts' Estonian officer after Obama says US will defend Estonia.

Now what?

onwebcam 09-10-2014 12:11 AM

Obama is the biggest coward to ever behold the office and every leader knows it. So of course. Imagine that, the first black coward.

The unfortunate thing here is cowards will eventually act out in a unpredictable way. This unpredictable way (generally childish) is not favorable to those who surround him, that being everyone.

So, I figured out this thread's subject: USA is a member of NATO. Big news, tell it everyone.

bronco67 09-10-2014 03:12 AM

So Obama should never say anything because someone might react to it? Do you go through life saying nothing? Obviously not.

Correct but if he's gonna talk the talk he has to be prepared to walk the walk.

And he's not.

And just like his "red line in the sand" comment a while back, he will now say he didn't say it, we all misunderstood.

More complex? As there are spies? Since when that has been a news.

By the way, some high ranking Estonian official revealed to be spy (spying for Russia) some years ago.

"A former Estonian defence ministry official who sold Nato secrets to Russia has been sent to jail for 12 and a half years after a closed trial."

most of the issues we have now are from obonzo running his mouth :2 cents:

Barry-xlovecam 09-10-2014 07:21 AM

The United States is a signatory of the NATO treaty -- it is a mutual protection treaty. In simple terms: we all go to war together.

Whoever sits as the US President would have reaffirmed that commitment -- end of story.

I dont remember seeing anyone in our lifetime at the lead of the line in battle. He isnt a coward he doesnt do the theater that the american people need to see.
Also you cant bitch about the debt and want to keep going to war. It costs money.

Well, it's a little more complicated then that. Great article about this at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/1...n_1032507.html. I agree with the point of the video though. He shouldn't have wasted all that breath on all that rhetoric.

I will counter with this one:

bronco67 09-10-2014 05:11 PM

Hey everybody, after the speech is over and the dust has settled -- watch the majority of Republican congressmen and senators call for Obama to make an "executive decision". Those nutless turds will not be seen standing by Obama on anything, even when it involves satisfying their deep lust for deploying American might to the Middle East.

They won't go near a vote on this, even though it's their duty as our elected representatives. They'll pass the ISIS hot potato to our "tyrant" president, then try to sue him for it later when it goes pear-shaped.

His plan.. Air raids on a group hiding within populations and arming Syrian rebels. LOL They are the rebels we funded and armed in Syria before. Yeah this plan is going to work out well. Just like the last time. And the time before that. Al Qaeda..

Our federal govt. never seems to learn any lessons.

We are being "trolled" into this shit. Probably by members of ISIS who are paid by weapons manufacturers.

I liked how the U.S. govt. is going to expedite "training" the Iraq army. WTF??? We've been "training" and arming them for a dozen years now.
Hell, half of them are now in ISIS and took the tanks and heavy weaponry we gave them over with them.

I guess I had a good run. For the first 14 years of my life we were in Vietnam.

Then we kinda chilled out for a while (except for Panama and Grenada). But the shit started right back up in the first Gulf War.

And we just keep on having wars continuously now. Non-ending, never stopping. Just keep fighting and killing and most importantly: Making a few people very, very rich.

The Iraqi army appears to be a bunch of guys who needed a job. The problem isn't their training, it's the fact that they have nothing to fight for because Iraq is not really a country. It's a propped up façade of a country fabricated by the USA.

The reason ISIS can kick the ass of a giant, American trained army is that they have a fire in their gut and a cause to fight for -- albeit a piece of shit cause.

The words to "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who have never rung more true than they do right now.

I can't believe the American people are actually ready to get this whole thing fired up again.

"The world looks just the same, and history ain't changed. 'Cause the banners they all flown in the last war.
I tip my hat to the new constitution, take a bow for the new revolution.
Smile and grin at the change all around"

And of course the immortal words at the end of the song:
"Meet the new Boss! Same as the old Boss!"

Thing is, the old boss dealt with a cat named Saddam who had no (or very few) weapons of mass destruction and had absolutely nothing (zero, zip, nada, zilch) to do with 911.

And now...

The new boss is confronted with the old boss's legacy in the form of ISIS. A rather unpleasant bunch who have been merrily flouncing about of late sawing off heads, burying women and children alive, crucifying villagers, and carrying out Einzengruppen style mass executions whenever the fancy strikes them.

Different boss, different Iraq, different world.

News flash. ISIS didn't exist while Bush was President. And why didn't the new boss do anything when ISIS killed our Ambassador in Benghazi. Was it because he didn;t see them as a threat or because he was using them in his overthrow of Syria?

Robbie 09-10-2014 09:54 PM

Greg... Maybe you see it differently. But I sure don't.

The whole game of funneling money to weapons manufacturers and spending huge amounts on "Defense" is still ongoing.

Obama, Bush, Clinton, Reagan...they are just interchangeable parts to keep us sheep occupied and entertained while "business" is conducted.

When you want to know what's really going on...follow the money. And the money just keeps flowing.
The United States must ALWAYS have a "boogieman" to be scared of.

And the hypocrisy of our govt. is so blatant that it's shocking.

Our Pres. tells Russia that they can't invade a sovereign nation. Wow.
We've done it twice in the last few years without ever being attacked by either nation.

And then we sent in our airforce over Libyan airspace and helped kill their leader (and look what that got us).

And now we are going to bomb in Syria too???

No Greg...The Who are right. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

You can make excuses and try to spin things to feel better about it...but the United States Federal Govt. is fucking out of control. And whether Baby Jesus Obama is Pres. or EVIL George Bush is Pres., it makes no difference.

The results are the same. :(

But some enemies are more real than others.

Saddam (after getting kicked out of Kuwait) was relatively harmless. Nonetheless, he made a convenient boogieman for Cheney & Company and yes, for the entire military industrial complex. Hence, the second Iraq war.

Obama wasn't much better in his handling of Gaddafi (although the Europeans were even more anxious to do the same) and if he had his way, "Baby Jesus" would have done the same in Syria last year.

New boss, same as the old boss. Agreed.

ISIS however is the real deal.

Problem is that in saying so our government now comes off with all the credibility of the kid who cried wolf.

I don't know man.

To me they are only what our govt. and the media makes out of them.

Which is why I said that we are being "trolled" into this.

Looks like from now on, if any group of people want to get internationally famous...just behead an American. :(
Then the U.S. military will attack you and you can start gaining popularity and new recruits.

Reality is...the entire ISIS "army" could be taken out in minutes by the U.S. military.

They are being built up into big bad monsters for public consumption.
Just like when we made Al Queda into something so scary.

They are all just a bunch of goat herders in the desert. And they have twice as many recruits now that we have acknowledged them.

I'm not even sure WHY we give a fuck about what they do. I guess it's more "pre-emptive" scariness for us all to be afraid of.

What the heck are we even DOING there anyway?

I thought the objective was to get rid of Sadaam Hussein. Well...as Bush would say: "Mission Accomplished".

But instead we sat there for 12 years "nation building".

And now we are going to re-engage to keep our country from looking stupid?
Too late! That ship sailed the minute we invaded a SOVEREIGN nation like Iraq in the first place (can you just smell the hypocrisy of Pres. Obama lecturing Russia?).

There is no reason for us to be there. No reason for us to be killing people there.

Let's see...before we "saved" Iraq, 99.9% of the population there lived normal lives. They could go to the store, Drive their cars. The hotels were safe. And to top it off....Hussein was a pretty "Western" kind of guy.

Now look at it.

And we are going to "save" them again?

At what point does the entire world finally get tired of the U.S. govt.'s bullshit?

Keep in mind, it's not just that they beheaded two Americans, though the term "beheading" doesn't even begin to describe the horror of how they did so with not much more than a standard military issue knife. They've murdered thousands of civilians and prisoners already and enough neutral sources have witnessed as much to confirm it. Not that any eyewitness testimony is necessary given ISIS's eagerness to upload videos of the same to the web. That's how they really attract new recruits. Hell, there's even a video floating around of an ISIS commander in Syria eating the heart of a captured Syrian general.

You better believe these bastards would orchestrate a 911 style attack in a heartbeat given the resources. And the resources are at hand. They're already raking in millions selling oil from the wells they've captured on the black market.

Left unmolested, these guys will be going for the whole enchilada.

Well said about teenagers. The one can't even buy a drink at 18 but he is legally allowed to kill and/or be killed at the war at this age :2 cents:

Do you honestly believe that a group of goat herders can invade and take over the United States?

Me neither.

So what the fuck are we doing there attacking them? That's not "defense".

The "USA" doesn't have "enemies". Our federal govt. and the shady shit they pull all over the world CREATES enemies. You and I and the other citizens of this country are kept in the dark by our govt. keeping everything "top secret".

And then when something like 9-11 happens we are shocked.

Maybe if we STOPPED trying to rule the world and stopped bombing and killing so many people...our enemy list might start to shrink.

Like most things, I tend to agree with you. We differ slightly though. For me, the genie is out of the bottle. The enemy was created a long time ago. We're way past being able to discuss matters with an [IS]. The fact is they are an enemy and they've issued a caliphate with an agenda to kill Americans.

Americans are just like Iranians. What our government does in no way reflects how we feel. Nevertheless, those guys have a plan and act and conduct themselves like a well organized military. I don't think it's accurate to hand wave them off had goat herders.

Robbie 09-11-2014 09:57 AM

I guess my point is...why are we there at all?

What are we doing in Iraq at this point? What are we protecting? Is it really worth it to keep making new enemies by killing people there?

We know that IS can't invade the U.S.
We know that we are making them bigger by opposing them and giving them credibility.
Sadaam is gone (which was supposedly our only objective in the first place)

So what are we doing?
Are we going to stop a crazy person from pulling a stunt like 9-11 by bombing in Iraq and possibly Syria too?
No.

NOTHING on Earth (especially the military) can stop a few crazy people from blowing shit up from time to time.

But blowing shit up, beheading a person, killing some people here and there...none of that equals a "threat" to our nation.

Hell...it turns out that our "intelligence" was way off during the actual "Cold War" with the Soviet Union and they didn't have half the abilities that we were told they did. So even that "threat" was exaggerated to some extent.

IF any nations are a real threat to the U.S. in 2014 it would be Russia and China. But neither of those countries have done anything to us at all.

"IS" isn't a "threat" to the United States...they are nothing. We could literally send a couple of thousand rednecks in with shotguns and finish them off. :(
