Success = being able to put your kid in private school

Dropping my kid off today at school was an uplifting experience:
1. mostly intelligent and advanced kids
2. almost 100% WASPS (I am teaching my kid to be non racist and to try to have friends from all races and beliefs but I don't want my kid in some multicultural cesspool like the public schools have become) My kid is part Jewish so I guess that counts towards the school's "diversity" LOL
3. clean, newly remodeled, and very secure
4. one extremely qualified teacher for every 6 or 7 students! (there is only one teacher for every twenty students at the local public schools)
5. MILFS galore:thumbsup
6. Instead of indoctrinating the kids they focus on actual reading, writing, math and science.

the Shemp 09-09-2014 08:18 PM

did you go to private school ...?

Fuck no and I am sure it shows:1orglaugh

I have neighbors who have multi-million dollar properties, drive high end cars, take expensive vacations, etc yet they send their kids to public schools. I have a decent home, decent vehicle, and eat well but put my money towards private education. I guess we all have different ideas of what success is.:2 cents:

BlackCrayon 09-09-2014 08:27 PM

hopefully they won't be the "poor kids" there and face ridicule.

Hopefully everything will stay nice and none of those kids will hatch a plot to kill everyone in the school.

wdsguy 09-09-2014 08:45 PM

Did you tell them to beat up the weakest kid the first day of school so they don't get picked on?

KillerK 09-09-2014 08:58 PM

So your son is a pussy, cause that's why daddys send their boys to private school nowdays.

Shit is fucked for him when he grows up anyway.

Damn you're stupid.

I'm sure ya get a better edumacation from a private school but I think there is something to be said for the street smarts you will acquire from public school. If ya live in da hood I could see going the private school route so they don't end up joining a gang or getting a beat down daily but if ya live the suburban life think public school is okay. Sooner or later they will have to deal with dickheads so better to get it over with so they know how to handle them instead of being sheltered from 50% of the population that are idiots and not knowing how to cope with them later. I suck at grammar and I make 6 figures a year, thanks public school. :1orglaugh

VikingMan 09-09-2014 09:17 PM

My kid's last school had a mix of white, asian, Indian (from India), hispanic, and a few blacks. One of my kid's best friends is an adopted black kid and I have encouraged that friendship. However such a multicultural experience is not positive. Everyone has different things they want and the kids actually become racist. Many of the parents cannot even speak English which fucks things up socially. Some of the families are super traditional so it makes mixing with other parents difficult. My kid never talked about the differences in skin color before that stupid MLK day bullshit which was actually a full week of indoctrination about racism. Marxists are dumb as fuck.

atom 09-09-2014 09:34 PM

I went to a private catholic school. Class size of 14-17 kids depending on the year. For the most part I'm glad I went.

The religion part of it really sucked shit. Forced to be an alter boy, forced to go to catholic mass Weds and Sundays. The guilt factor that goes with being catholic. Nuns smacking the shit out of me up until the 4th grade.

I looked at sending my kid to the same school except for the fact I can't fucking stand religion. Our public schools here in the western suburbs of Minneapolis are also some of the best in the Country.

mikesouth 09-09-2014 09:49 PM

Good for you man you love your kids and want the best for them. You made the right call public schools teach to the dumbest kids in the class robbing the rest of a quality education...almost child abuse IMO Good for you man kudos

tommy730 09-09-2014 09:57 PM

Girls who went to private schools were the freakiest.

^ That one had me scratching my head.

1. I don't think you "teach" a kid to be "non racist" - I mean, a baby isn't born a racist, racism is taught and/or tolerated, not the other way around.

2. You want your kid to have as many friends from different cultures as possible yet you describe a multicultural environment as a "cesspool" <- That's one of the most ignorant comments I've read on GFY in awhile, and that says *a lot*

I'm no tree-hugger and I dislike everyone equally no matter what they are, but you, my friend, are an idiot.

Private school actually pussifies and isolates children from learning and experiencing the real world and doesn't produce well-rounded, alpha-male types. A professional work environment is home of all sorts of characters from all walks of life which your kid may have to deal with one day.

I don't see public school as a success, I see it as a parent's cop-out or response to their inner fears and insecurity to confidently teach their kids to stay on the right path. In other words you place more value on the impression the kids around your children make rather than your own.

Again, that is just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth. :2 cents:

Go for it.

We have excellent public school in our neighborhood where my kids go to school. The kids that live around here who are in private school are the ones that have trouble keeping friends, are a bit snotty and religious. I'd rather not have my boys hang be with them.

I think some kids from different cultures is good but when you have a heavy mix it does not work. Just ask the parents of the kids from some of the schools in certain areas of California if they think it is a good idea when there are actual race riots between the blacks and Mexicans. You won't hear about that in the national news.

Manfap 09-10-2014 01:57 AM

I had 2 friends that went to private schools.
One of them is a lazy fucker who's never worked and still lives with him mum at 40+, the other went mad.

I went to a public school, but it was a grammar school, you had to pass an exam to get in, only the top 10% go there. It get's far higher marks than most private schools.

It all depends on where you live. In NYC, some of the public schools are a disgrace and some - like Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, Stuyvesant, you have to take and pass an exam to get in (surprise - Asians make up 90% of those high schools and they are big Ivy League feeder schools). So in those schools you're getting the equivalent of a $40,000 a year education at a NYC private school - Dalton, Horace Mann, Riverdale Country Day, etc.

As a parent, you owe it to your kids to figure out what the public schools are like in your district and make a decision from there. Even if you're well off - $40k a year is a bit of coin - especially if you're multiplying it by 2 or 3.

Sometimes it means moving to another district. Education should be equal for all, but we all know that it will never be that way. Become informed and make a smart decision - it'll pay off in the long run.:2 cents:

This post is retarded. Everyone wants their kids in the best school they can find.

kane 09-10-2014 03:53 AM

Public school is often what you make of it. Where I live the high school has a ton of great programs like tutors that will come to your house, advanced classes, different clubs that focus on various academic pursuits etc. The thing is you have to take the initiative to ask about these things and take advantage of them.

If you are like my nephew was and you don't give a shit and all you want to do is smoke weed, steal your mom's Valium and fuck off you will fail every class and eventually get expelled and most teachers won't care. The school told his mom several times how they can help him, but she couldn't be bothered. However, my niece who is a senior in high school this year (at the same school) gets great grades, has a plan for what she wants to do after high school and is well regarded. She and her dad (my brother - he and his wife are divorced and the boy is from a different father) take advantage of many of the things they offer and it has provided her with a pretty strong education.

johnnyloadproductions 09-10-2014 03:54 AM

Sure a good school system certainly helps, there is no replacement for a driven person though.

Just like dogs, some are laid back and not worthy investing in for certain activities, while others are anxious to get going.

I didn't actually speak to a black person until I was 16. I grew up in a small redneck town of about 2,000. It was 98% white with some Mexicans. The town got its first black family when I was 16 and their son was in a few of my classes. Once you talked to him for five minutes you realized he was a cool guy. His family was also a nice family.

The crazy thing was how much racism he faced. He got called Ni@@er every day. There were kids who didn't want him on sports teams because he was black and didn't want to be in the same class as him because he was black. These were all kids that, like me, grew up in this town and had never known a black person, but they had been taught by there parents to not like black people. It was sad to see.

There are some thick kids in private schools, there are none in Grammar Schools,
they take the top 10% at the age of 11.

The rest go to normal schools.
