Spamcop question
Every now and then I get a notice by spamcop.net. It always goes to different domain names on my server. It always claims they received complains about and that it is the second notice.
- I don't spam - I never receive a first notice - I have received 2nd notices for certain domains multiple times about 6-12 month apart - I never receive an answer if I ask what this email is about - Mail only is relayed by my server if you have checked mail first and the current ip is known. So all this normally tells me that this spamcop shit is pure bull and they are indeed spamming me to sell their service but I have read on this board before that this dude is legit. Anyone here has more info or comments? |
Quit spamming and you won't have any problems.

I think I was clear when I said: I don't spam. To make it absolutely clear to even people like you who comment without reading a post: - I receive those for all my domains even the one's that aren't adult. - I never was blocked by spamcop so there is no problem besides the SPAM!!! they are sending me. |
I had the same issues...I e-mailed spam cop and this was the reply i got:
I'm sorry you got tangled up in this. The mail you're getting that looks like it's from SpamCop is a forgery. The whole thing is a hoax. We have a revenge seeking spammer who is trying his best to cause trouble for us by causing trouble for you. This is the eighth such attack on us recently. The text attachment containing a fake message from Steve Linford is a new addition. There is no such project, nor would any of us ever participate in such a thing. SpamCop is an anti-spam reporting service that sends something like 100,000 complaints a day to spammer hosts worldwide, which has made this particular spammer very angry. However, we only send complaints about specific messages, not general indictments of a system, or anything like that. Actual SpamCop complaints would come from an address like [email protected]. Each complaint has a unique numbered address. Spam complaints are the *only* mail we send. We do not promote ourselves, nor do we work with bulk mailers or list managers. Obviously we send bounce notices and stuff like that, but generally not anything else. We would appreciate it very much if you would not block [email protected], [email protected], or spamcop.net in general. However, addresses such as postmaster, webmaster, hostmaster, abuse, support, etc, are not in use on our system, so you could block mail from them because any use of those addresses would be a forgery. You can see a sample SpamCop complaint here: http://spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/338.html You can read the latest about the forgery here: http://spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/124.html - Don - |
Its a scam.. someone trying to fuck spamcop..
What they told me.. What you received is a forgery. SpamCop provides the ability to analyze a spam message to find out it's source. You can use SpamCop for free -- see spamcop.net SpamCop does *not* send advertising email. This is the the latest in a series of forgeries aimed at discrediting SpamCop. Some information is available at: http://www.julianhaight.com/forgery.shtml and the format of a real SpamCop report is at: http://spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/338.html Please accept my apologies that you have received this. |

Ahh fake that might solve it:
[email protected] was the sender but might also be faked. No wonder I receive no reply when I reply to a fake address. |
