This is why I am asking for genuine advice from people who might have handled with hongkong lawyers. I am sure some people of gfy have sued over there or more likely have been sued. :) |

ottopottomouse correctly, and he will spend a lot of money that the lawyer tell him this, or if the lawyer make a good (rip) job he will go and sue this company who don't has more then a mailbox there. then probably you will find out that the company is controlled by another offshore company and so on... depending how professionally they build this up.
it's much better to pay someone to investigate to identify who rip him off, not the company, the person behind this and then talk the right way with this person :-) |
The owner is Romanian living in London.
The company is registered in HongKong and has a hongkong bank account which still receives funds. |
Pat- I might have a name for you. I need to check with him. Back soon.

sucks :(
good luck getting your $$$ back! |
As others have rightly said. I am pretty sure that a lawyer will only add to your loss.
Ask yourself why a Romanian who lives in London would operate out of a Hong Kong company, and then ask yourself what the chances are that your money will be sitting in his Hong Kong bank account long enough for you to get a Court Judgment against that Hong Kong Company and a Garnishee Order placed on the bank to get it ring fenced for you. I don't know the sums involved but unless it is big and the company that owes you have any kind of reputation that they would want to preserve, your chances are slim I am afraid. That doesn't mean I would let it go of course but a good lawyer is not likely to offer no success no fee on international debt collection. In fact they could get in trouble for doing so. http://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/a...g-kong-lawyers Why not have a chat with a local "debt collection agency" before a lawyer? Many do operate on a no success no fee basis. I just did a quick search for you and looked at a couple of sites and this one looks ok on the face of it. Not recommending them and have no knowledge of them but I am familiar with the international debt collection process and having a local presence and having somebody prepared to turn up at their (probably accountant or lawyer's) office is a very important factor in being taken seriously. This page explains quite clearly the steps they would take. http://www.mncgc.com/standard-operat...ures/?lang=en/ but I would recommend you do a little due diligence on anybody before instructing them to collect money on your behalf as you do want to end up with collected funds being paid to you. Hope this helps in some way. Good luck |

I can refer you to a reputable investigator who works in the region who will be able to provide you better advice than most of us on GFY. He is Australian and works with fraud and deception matters in Asia/South East Asia. |

The only thing you have of value in a situation like this is what you learned from it, so cash that in if you can, otherwise, good luck! You will certainly need it. |
