Ebay Global Priority Shipping total SCAM

I'd like to share with you my story to warn others (non-us) from purchasing on Ebay (I live in EU). Some time ego Ebay introduced so called Global Priority Shipping Program operated by US company Pitney Bowes.
Now, on Aug 17 I purschsed an item on Ebay which was shipped on Aug 19. I don't know why but during the delivery Ebay refunded all shipping costs to me. On Sept. 02 Ebay's tracking history showed that my item had been delivered. Obviously it's far from the truth because if I got anything from Ebay my signature would confirm the delivery. There is no such thing. So I called Pitney Bowes, gave them the tracking number only to find out that my package was at some point returned. I asked them to send this confirmation at my e-mail address but nothing came so far.
Next step, I opened dispute on Ebay to receive this information:

eBay Customer Support has reviewed the case and made a final decision. We've considered the case carefully and decided not to issue you a refund. We're sorry this didn't work out.
Decision:
This case has been decided in the seller's favor.

Comments:
We received tracking information from the seller that shows the item was delivered to your address.

The seller also isn't willing to give me refund so I guess that all I can do now is call my bank and ask for a chargeback.

I run a small ebay store and was using this shipping program for a while on some of my listings. Everything was going great until someone from Europe used it. I sent the package, weeks later they claimed they didn't get it. Ebay wouldn't do shit for the guy because the package made it to the shipping center in USA so it wasn't my fault the thing got lost. If the seller isn't willing to refund you, ebay will not side with you if the item is marked as delivered for the US portion of the shipment. A chargeback is your only option.

OK I totally agree with you. It isn't absolutely the seller's fault. I'm sure that their shipping provider Pitney Bowls fucked up everything. However the item was not delivered and credit card charged. So a chargeback is the only option.

It really is your only option. I refunded the guy I had issues with, he was so angry he filed a dispute against me and everything lol. I used the global shipping program to send packages to Canada numerous times with zero issues but the first time someone in Europe used it, the package went missing. After that incident I removed the option from any of my auctions and will not use it anymore. It fucked up my seller rating due to the dispute, I felt bad and chose to refund the guy and was out the money for the product.

People still use Ebay?

I had them totally fuck up a Global Shipping transaction. Lost the item. Lost the funds. And now I completely dumped eBay.

Chargeback. Its the only way to get any changes to the "program".

I've had 2 packages sent that way and they spent all day on the porch in plain view, no signature required. One item worth $50, one worth $1000. Boxes arrived with significant wear and damage. On the Canadian side it was delivered by the worst, most cut-rate shipper we have (Canpar).

Problem now is sellers who would have ordinarily just shipped with USPS to get here without any incident are using this bloody thing and charging 30-40% more for shipping and creating huge risk.

I dont use global shipping, the fees are outrages... I don't understand why sellers can't just send via usps for international, whats the problem of writing a different address that's outside the Us....never had a problem with usps shipping.

That shipping is a nightmare. both rich and myself have had things disappear from their warehouse.

brassmonkey 09-04-2014 08:12 AM

thats messed up

CurrentlySober 09-04-2014 09:35 AM

i like global shitting...

Theo 09-04-2014 10:04 AM

two words: Pitney Bowes, what a nightmare to deal with. The craziest thing is they have horrific customer support, yet they provided as service for some really large companies..

I recently had something go missing. That global shipping is a nightmare, and when I put in a dispute, it was originally denied because normally the dispute deals with issues between the buyer and the seller. So they were right to side with the seller.

Here's what you need to do. Call Ebay, in my case they informed me that had I used ebay.ca, there would be nothing that they could do for me. But I had used Ebay.com so they could put in a dispute with Ebay direct (not with the seller), since it was their shipping program. Check the tracking on your parcel, mine stopped in KY (which is where Pittney Bowes warehouse is) Once that was established, Ebay refunded me both the price of the shipping as well as the price of the item.

Good luck!

I ordered something on ebay.com from America to the UK last November and apart from the confusing emails from several carriers as it was passed between them I was quite pleased with the service. Would have been nicer if customs hadn't taken it apart though.

I despise international shipping via "third party" companies....ugh!

PornoStar69 09-04-2014 05:06 PM

The sellers think they have to fill out large forms. It might be a little more info but it isn't that bad.people are lazy and can't be bothered.Global shipping is a huge rip off

You might lose your eBay/PayPal account if you do a chargeback. Just a friendly warning.
