This Years Greatest Marketing Gimmick

In my opinion.

http://wonderball.com/

This rules.

A Cable television station (Cartoon network) has its own candy. Chocolate balls, with a hollow middle packed with varying, collectible things inside that match each one of their cartoons on their station.

Backed by Nestle and Disney.

What a fucking awesome idea. I bet the guy or people who came up with this are getting paid.

It's true.. chocolate covered plastic toys sounds a little nuts.

Yeah, sometimes I wonder why I even bother to post.

it's not exactly new is it? hasn't BurgerKing and other fast food giants been doing this for years?
maybe this is a little different but the tie-ins between food companies with kids products and entertainment companies has been going on forever.

what's the difference between SpongeBob Fudgepants Ravioli from Chef Boyardee and this kind of thing?

do kids collect cans of chef boyardee?

compared to numbered tradeable stickers? holgrams, and tattoos?

Also with more emphasis on the new ones are all their tv shows.

Jahnny bravo, etc.

So its promoting the growth of Cartoon Network, a channel, not a company like MacDonalds, im just talking more of the 'in house' traffic' generation method being displayed, its quite awesome when you look at it that way.

anyone remember "Wacky Packages" ?

Bored 03-11-2003 03:28 PM

Yeah, they still sell them I think. 75 cents for 15 cents worth of shit. Rocket candy, a little plastic toy and some gum. Kind of reminds me when I was 3 getting loot bags at birthday parties.
