I wonder just how far this will go

Ukraine crisis: 'We may reach the point of no return'

European Union foreign ministers have expressed concern at Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso called for a political solution before the crisis reached a "point of no return".

He was speaking after talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

How far will things go? It's obvious. It will go until Russia has land access to Crimea. Thry'll get it because the world is full of pussies and Russia knows this. They know the west can impose all the sanctions they want but when Putin is out and Obama and others are out in just a few years, all the new leaders will try to again normalize relations and Russia will still have these massive gains in terms of a Black Sea naval base and a land bridge to it.

Putin is a BOSS

Translation from diplomatic language: Ukraine should not expect any meaningful help yet.

Point of no return was already reached in 1977.

Uk and Europe are shiting themsleves. I was listening to the news on the radio at work and they were talking to a general in the UK army, he said the UK has not got the troops, armour, naval and airforce it once had, and it would not stand up to Russia on its own.

We are seeing things like this now from countrys in Europe

Lithuania: 'Russia practically in a war against Europe'

Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has said Russia is "practically in a war against Europe".

EU leaders are gathering in Brussels to discuss the crisis in Ukraine, threatening to impose fresh sanctions against Russia.

Russia denies that its forces are backing rebels, who have been gaining ground on Ukrainian forces.

EU leaders are meeting in Brussels to discuss the crisis in Ukraine, threatening to impose fresh sanctions against Russia.

Worst case, Russia takes all of Ukraine. This might seem like a win for Russia in the short term, but it would be a huge long term loss. Eventually Russia will be cut off the rest of the civilized world.

China & Russia do not have the same relationship they once had and the West has greatly filled in the gaps and then some with actual business. It used to be the USSR was top dog of the Red countries.. Now it's China and China does what is right for China and no longer bows to Russia.

Thanks for the info, I really hope you are right. I feel like russia is always at war because it's so damn cold there. Nobody is happy when it's cold all the time.

They are friendly with China, more so than the US, but I would imagine China needs the US more. I mean, US consumes everything in bulk and buys most of it from China.

Everyone tosses the WWIII phrase around. Highly unlikely. Russia might be able to take on the US, but not the US and Europe.

I don't intend to toss it around loosely or anything, It's just a latent concern that I feel like we've been on the edge of for too long now. IMO we've weakened ourselves by being at constant war with countries which we have no reason to be at war with other than to take their oil, and we've lost a ton of troops, money, and positioning (all our equipment is over there) to that stupid endeavor...It's nice to hear that it's unlikely, but it will be a while before I can calm my mind about it.

Considering all the talk of action when the Soviets overran Hungry and Czechoslovakia in the end the West did nothing but talk. I would guess Putin is expecting the same force, a bullshit avalanche, to be brought to bear if the Russians should overrun Ukraine. Economic sanctions will not work -- Russians have a genetic history of breadlines -- they will survive the deprivations.

Putin knows that using nuclear weapons would be a fatal mistake -- he is just playing the role of a badass much like Khrushchev did years ago -- didn't work out to well that time -- did it?
