Star Trek III: The Search for another director, and writer.

So Star Trek #2 totally sucked ass and J.J. has jumped ship over to Star Wars. Old news.
He admitted he wasn't a Star Wars fan when he was younger and actually passed on Star Wars VII the first time it was offered....but after fucking up Star Trek, the powers that be in Hollywood offered him the keys to the Falcon again and J.J. jumped on board, leaving Kirk and Spock marooned on Ceti Alpha 5, waiting for somebody else dumb enough to come along and try to fix the mess J.J. left behind. Star Wars VII is already way behind schedule, original release date (May 2014) has past, and now they have pushed it all the way to Christmas 2015. I personally think it will be May 2016. With delayed casting, script rewrites, physical repairs needed on the original 3 main cast: weight loss for Leia, new set of teeth for Luke and a new ankle for Han, it will be anything short of a miracle if they can pull this off by end of next year. I pray Lucas and Kasdan can nudge the script so the movie doesn't end up with the shitty dialogue similar to what fucked up Star Trek #2. I imagine that with today's special effects, Star Wars VII will look like Gravity / meets Star Trek I / meets Star Wars IV.... but please, come up with a great story to tie it all together. Effects mean jack shit if the story and dialogue suck. As long as J.J. doesn't shake the fucking camera every ten seconds, (Star Trek I) there will be a new hope. (pun intended) Don't fuck up our Star Wars J.J. or this will be the only thing left you'll get to direct: http://i081.radikal.ru/0908/39/a9fd8d38cf6f.jpg |

Looks like it's gonna suck. :2 cents:

On a serious note, the studio will take the profit and try to hide as much as they can or take the loss and blow it up twice the size to cover other profits. I hate the studio system. Definitely not about movies anymore. :disgust Hopefully Kasdan and Lucas can somehow get it back on track before they all die of old age. |

and it was well acted, had top notch special effects, a great musical score -- and looked awesome on an IMAX screen. OP should stop trying to have opinions about things because his taste in movies is the only thing that sucks here. |

Hmm i loved the new Star Trek films by J.J, and im a fan of the old stuff.

The first new revision was fine, I had to look up the trailer for "Into Darkness" because I didn't think I saw it. Turns out I did, I just didn't find it memorable.

Damn! Well there go my plans for my SciFiMen.com domain :disgust

It earned $467,365,246 worldwide, ranking it in 14th place for 2013, and making it the highest-grossing film of the franchise. |

For me it just kind of tumbled along with a lot of fighting and not as much fun as the one before :2 cents: |

OP is a JJ hater. I thought both movies he did were awesome. The opening of Into Darkness - I thought it could have been a world that crossed over into the Star Wars series.

I *LOVED* the reboot of Star Trek. The second JJ offering wasn't as good but still pretty good.
The new Star wars was never announced to be released May 2014. Instead, the official release date was December 2015. This is the first Star Wars not to be released in May. From what I've read on IMDB, movie production was not halted after Harrison Ford's injury. If he's not healed well enough to do all of his scenes I suspect that wil just shoot around him, or maybe another actor with some head / face CG replacement. The new Star Wars will be the most anticipated movie in history. Everyone loves the franchise of course so everyone will want to see it the first day. To get fans even more frothed up, the original and much loved cast will also be there. To top it off, it's being made by JJ Abrams of course, AND it will be in 3D, AND it will be in Imax, AND it will have all the latest greatest high tech visual effects, AND it's a Disney film who lets face it, can usually do no wrong either, and and and and and.... I suspect tickets will go on sale months ahead of time and be sold out for months after its release. |

I'm watching Into The Darkness right now. Seems pretty good.

The reason Star Trek II 100% sucked: It was not original.
Star Trek I took the original series and shaped it in a new direction. Gave it a rebirth. Introduced all the main characters so anybody watching it for the first time could discover how great it is. They not only gave us a new start, but the movie itself had a great original storyline and plot. It created a new paradigm by taking all the original story and characters from Star Trek the series and launched it all into a new direction. Exciting, original, brilliant and fun to watch. Now, New Star Trek is off and running with a great new solid start. A great cast and a team of the best special effects creators at the helm, they are ready to launch us all into the unknowns of space, which is the whole point of Star Trek, the mission into deep space, to contact alien life with all of us exploring the universe together. Love Star Trek! They now have an entire universe to explore and take us along for the ride....to show us things we've never seen before...how amazing is that? I just can't wait to see where we go next....Can't wait for Star Trek II !! So, where did they take us? They walked us over to the vault and pulled out the old "Khan" script and thought, "This was a hit, let's just reboot it" and the meeting started to buzz: "ooh, let's be really creative and make Khan a blue eyed white boy instead...and while we're at it, give the Klingons blue eyes too! People just love blue eyes in movies, oh, and let's have Kirk die in the end, instead of Spock!! OMG! What a clever twist!! We are so smart and talented! Who needs an original script? All the die hard fans will love it! Who doesn't like Khan? This is going to be a great Star Trek movie." They had the entire universe to explore, and all the money needed for production to make it happen, and all we get is a fucking RE RUN of a movie that was already made??? Seriously??? A fucking reboot?? Is that what Star Trek is all about now? A fast food franchise turning out the same fucking burgers and fries?? No new stories? No new adventures? No new places to go in the universe? Nothing new to sink our brains into? Just another fucking reboot???? Star Trek II represents a complete failure in film making and a failure to grasp the concept of Star Trek. The producers took a brilliant launch of the franchise and buried it by turning it into a simple reboot of an already popular motion picture, Wrath of Khan. When true Star Trek fans plunked down $15 for a ticket, we wanted to see and deserved to see a NEW Star Trek film, instead all we got was a lame reboot made by people with no imagination and no concept of originality. Remember this? To boldly go where no man has gone before... Now all we get is: To sadly go where we have already been before. |

I only consider Star Wars to consist of IV, V & VI so no matter what happens, he can't take that from me! :)

Growing up watching the Sci-Fi I did, original Star Trek (movies and show), Star Wars, Battle Star Galactica etc. There are no bad Star Trek/Star Wars movies. They are all watchable and at the end of the day I would rather watch one of these remakes than a bunch of the other shit out in theatres. I'm excited for the new series. Disney doesn't seem to fuck around. They have a lot of money invested in the new Star Wars franchise witch leads me to believe that they are going to start it out right. |

You realize that what we are seeing is an alternate reality of the original Star Trek Universe, right? The stories and the character of the original movies have to remain and have to follow the same or similar stories. What makes the new Star Trek movies interesting is the constraint that the new universe places on the writers. In the original movie, reality becomes altered because of Spock's time travelling. It almost breaks up the friendship of the crew but somehow, they find each other again. Time isn't fixed, and we're not back to the original reality at all. The crew is together, but despite being in a new reality the crew should still experience the same events of the star trek movies, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.... just slightly different as they did with new Star Trek 2. I hope they keep making more Trek movies. I'd love to see what they do with "The Voyage Home". A Time Travel movie within this alternative Universe should be cool. On that note, I have been watching Star Trek : Enterprise on Netflixx. It is really, really good. By far, the best episode is part 1 of "In a Mirror, Darkly" - WOW! Captain Archer & Crew play their evil selves from the evil universe of the original TOS Trek, meet up with the Tholians, and find a starship from the original TOS "Good" Universe. Fucking awesome mind-bending fun. And this: http://www.allmystery.de/i/td1f203_T...prise-6617.jpg sigh... |

I enjoyed the first movie in the Star Trek reboot series a few years ago because it was fun watching the new actors and how they resembled and acted like the cast from the original series and to see all the references they made to the original series. The second movie Into Darkness was kind of unmemorable. Another version of Khan, really? It was more like a generic modern day action flick that overwhelms the senses with lots of explosions, loud noise and a frenetic pace than a Star Trek movie. I'd rather have seen a new movie series with the cast from Star Trek Voyager to be honest.

What I'm referring to is lack of story and originality. Btw, in the opening you refer to, I love the part when Kirk and McCoy jump off a 300 foot cliff and land in the ocean. I must've missed the part in Star Trek 1, where Kirk and McCoy became super heroes with unlimited human strength. Star Trek was always about story first and foremost. Now it's just another dam action hero movie. They had much better scripts in the original series. But of course today's generation gets bored if there isn't an explosion every 7 minutes, so give the people what they want, right? Explosions, stunts, more explosions, explode some buildings, toss in Khan, more explosions, blue eyed Klingons all exploding, blow up the ship, explode more buildings, oh and some more explosions after that and presto! An explosive hit motion picture with a bunch of sugar infested diabetic teens proclaiming how great it is. |
