Kinda of a fucked up phot0

That african child should be thankful - it doesn't have to pour ice cold water over its head.
|
|
Yeah but it's not cost effective to ship water anywhere. Even in country to like Cali, we can't just take water from N. Dakota and send it to Cali, its just not feasible. So dumping buckets of water in the US has ZERO effect on people in Africa.
That picture is just for shock value before you actually think. You could do the same with food and show someone giving a piece of chicken to a dog and then show a starving person in Africa. Well, you can't mail chicken to Africa so go on and feed it to your dog or throw it out even. |

If it was sustainable in any way, they would give enough water to all Africans. But that would put them out of business. |

Poisoning The Well? Nestlé Accused Of Exploiting Water Supplies For Bottled Brands A new documentary film takes food giant Nestlé to task for its water bottling practices. Critics say the multinational is busy extracting ground water for its bottled brands and leaving locals, often in poor corners of the world, with the dirty remains. "In the small Pakistani community of Bhati Dilwan, a former village councilor says children are being sickened by filthy water. Who's to blame? He says it's bottled water-maker Nestlé, which dug a deep well that is depriving locals of potable water. “The water is not only very dirty, but the water level sank from 100 to 300 to 400 feet,” Dilwan says." I also feel people should have to show their tax forms and qualify to vote. Anyone who doesn't take care of themselves is a burden to the country and should not have any say in it. |

The water we "waste" for the icebucket challenge, or for your super green grass evaporate and come back as rain. The real problem for example Africa, is the dryness..
|

This is biggest problem in Middle-East, as there rains very little. "The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System is among the most notable of fossil water reserves. Fossil aquifers also exist in the Sahara, the Kalahari, and the Ogallala underlying the US Great Plains. A further potential store of ancient water is Lake Vostok, a subglacial lake in Antarctica." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fossil_water http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/...-breadbaskets/ |

For me it's more about comparing north america with Africa |

Well, it is a big continent and very often it's not the lack of water, it's the lack of clean water. https://www.justoneafrica.org/clean-water.html |

All the ALS bucket challenges to date wouldn't come close to the usage of a one-time 40 acre crop irrigation.
