Ukraine: Russian tank column enters southeast
KIEV, Ukraine (AP) ? A column of Russian tanks and armored vehicles entered southeastern Ukraine around dawn Monday, a Ukrainian official said ? a move that brings the conflict to an area that has so far escaped the intense fighting of recent weeks.
The reported incursion came a day ahead of a summit that includes both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, and could be aimed at pressuring Ukraine into seeking a negotiated end to the conflict rather than a military victory. Over the past month, Ukrainian forces have made substantial inroads against pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine, taking control of several sizeable towns and cities that had been under rebel control since April, when the clashes began. But the advances have come at a high cost ? more than 2,000 civilians reportedly killed and at least 726 Ukrainian servicemen. There is no independent figure for the number of rebel dead, although Ukrainian authorities said Monday that 250 rebels were in fighting around Olenivka, a town 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of Donetsk. full article... |
This is not the first time they've done this either....

those are not Russian tanks. That is counter offensive of local forces, but stupid Ukrainians think that their border patrol would stop Russian tank offensive. Silly.

Usually local forces look something like this. http://blogs.e-rockford.com/applesau...-pitchfork.jpg |
I vote them to be air banned.

Yes, they have captured some guns and tanks, but they have made war for months and have had significant casualties. They haven't captured hundreds of tanks/ armoured vehicles as far as I know. From who they would have captured that much vehicles anyways? Were there (in that region) that much Ukraine troops to begin with? Having big population doesn't have anything to do with this, unless you suggest that some significant enough percentage of the population did posses tanks/ armoured vehicles before this conflict. |

we could sit here listing information that directly disputes what is put forth in the news, and then we'd just talk about 'how communist i am'. what is the point |

So, not my dream exactly. But I may have read too many stories about tankers being fried in their tanks (and seen some pics too). |

As Richard said above, this is pointless. People are dying and it was peaceful country until violent coup d'etat happened. I am sorry for ordinary people there (on both sides).

By hundreds of tanks/ vehicles I referred to the total amount of vehicles captured, that is important factor when determining the rebels strength (unless they have been resupplied). Also based on news there were more than 10 vehicles and I didn't talk about attack. Maybe the Russians were just resupplying rebels? Besides being armchair general, I am just squad leader, but leader nevertheless, and I know that war requires serious amounts of resources just to be able to sustain fighting. This comes even more important if there are significant casualties. So, it is very valid question, that from where does the rebels supply come from, in terms of food, guns, vehicles and ammunition. |

This doesn't make any sense. At some point in time a tank will be disabled or partially destroyed, and they will be able to tell it is not a Ukrainian tank. They will be able to trace it all the way back to Russia. Quote:

we reed news with proof every day that people in rusia are burying soldiers killed in Ukraine in big number. once again - rusia doesn't have solid army.
their propaganda keeps lying they are superstrong and Ukraine has no army, but things are totally different. Ukraine has great will to protect its land, while ruski don't have a clue what they are doing there. they are mismatched by their commandment and pootin |

Many of us know about you being a comrade for sometime. I fixed it for you. |
you're a 50+ old man
act your age |
I believe I am acting my age comrade _Richard_.
Don't let my age lead you to a false sense of safety and security though! BTW: Is that the best reply you could muster today? On Topic: Vlad would like you all to believe that the Pro-Russian Separatists pulled these tanks from their behinds. However he fails to realize when they cross his border onto foreign soil they are his/he is responsible for them. |
sounds legit.

I ridiculed some posters who stupidly or naively claimed Russians did not invade/support/have stake in this war few weeks or month ago. But to still claim that nowadays when hundreds (or more) of Russian troops invaded Ukraine and is at war is next level of insanity. 5th column power! |

Now that you have admitted that Russia invaded Ukraine we can justify further sanctions and assisting Ukraine with arms and munitions. |

If Russia REAL invaded Ukraine with their troops and power there will be nothing left of Ukraine trust me. There are many Russians people were living in Ukraine before collapse of the Soviet Union. There 50% Russian population in Donetsk. Population around 1 million people can make their own army of 500-2000 rebels and remain strong with defense. |
The pictures of the column of tanks really convinced me !!!!

Now explain us here, since when speaking Russian language makes a person able to question the whole country's borders? I do speak Russian too, but I NEVER wanted to join Russia. |
