Question about c4s
Hi I'm new here and new to the biz. Not sure if this the correct area to post this but here goes. I am starting a store on c4s. My question is I have a corp that I am signing up with and one of the requirements is to fill out a w9. Doesn't that make me their employee? I would think it is more like I am contracting with them to be a distributor of content that I produce. So why the w9? I no huge problem with it but does that mean they can claim ownership of my content?

I can't comment on the w9, but that alone wouldn't give them ownership over your content, you would need to read the terms of your agreement very carefully and it would tell you what they gained ownership of or how that works. If you want to post up the agreement I'll take a look at it for you :)

did you find out how the 2257 documents and model releas work with c4s? i heard they only ask to see them if there is doubt or complaint you have stolen content or illegal etc.
I see niches on c4s that look obvious there is no way to get documents from who is on camera. |
W9 is a tax form. Nothing to do with copyright ownership or terms of your business arrangement.
If they are asking you to sign a W9, I'd pay special attention to every line on the contract/ terms. |
I know of several people who run C4S stores and they have not asked for 2257 documents.

thanks. do they ask for any other documents related to your store? for example do they ask for model releases?
