Most profitable ad spot on a tube site?
 

I am curious, what does people find is the most profitable ad spot on a tube site?

Depends on what you are promoting but I would say the pop under.

Edit.. never seen it was a poll lol. However I still say the pop.

If we don't talk about pop-unders. I know those are profitable but also very intrusive.

Edit: And not really a banner.

Then either the banner next to the video player or the in video player banner.

I voted for the header, I am suprised to see so many people vote the banner next to the player.

NTV converts best, it's the 'sweet spot'. Think abut it: ou scroll past the Header, maybe don't even scroll down to see the Footer. You focus on the video (the reason you are there) and your peripheral vision sees the ad...click. Underplayer works well, too.

QFT and the upper one versus the lower one. People mouse up and to the right to close the browser so they go over your banner too making for a rash decision possible click.

Yes excellent point! I hadn't thought of that. When I would buy NTV ads they would usually only sell the bottom one, keeping the top one for cams, dating etc. Now I see why. LOL

Not the Invideo banners.. They generate a lot of clicks, but from people that click by mistake. The banner next to the videoplayer (or other content) is my favorite.

This is an old school thing from when people bought exit pops. Upper right for the win as they had to slide past to close it.

Next to video banners are the best ones.


header banner sucks.

I would say the only one that's profitable is the in player ad. At this point, everyone has seen so many ads that they filter them in thier minds. The video is the focus of the page, so hovering the banner over top of the video means that's the one that will get attention. I think the 300x250s down the side are for the most part completely ignored, and top banner just pushes your content down lower, reducing your pageviews per user.

This is exactly what I was thinking and that's kinda why I asked the question in the first place - but it seems that a lot does not agree.

It's enough to look at how much ad networks pay for each spot... Popunders and in-player ads :2 cents:

Heh, while we are planning to allow webmasters to use a banner below the video instead of a text link for sponsor videos (the link will still be set by the system to secure sponsors that traffic goes to them!), there isn't any plans to change the layout editor for the tubes right now.

We need to add a new statistics module and rewrite most of the blog script because it has some not so awesome bugs atm.

I was wondering what everyone else found to be the best spot. Mostly I just see tubes plastered in ads that don't even relate to the stuff they are showing.

Well, that's exactly the POINT of most tube sites (and the reason content providers dislike them so much).

Also: the reason you are getting differant responses as to what works is because it really depends on:

type of ad
what you are selling
landing pages
ad budget (how long an ad stays there)

more so than ad placement. I'm sure some Footers and Skyscrapers do better than NTV and underplayer ads for some companies. :)
