I'm not into the 'Iraquezee" shit, but the idea is good, and it's developing pretty
interesting IMHO.

Fuck scenes are disgusting, same as bloody scenes in Game Of Thrones, again IMHO.

Rochard 08-22-2014 12:56 PM

Both of the wives do it for me.

iSpyCams 08-22-2014 03:22 PM

It's got good production value but I find it hard to believe that the son of an Arab dictator has the values, ideals and sensibilities of an idealized tv version of a socially conscientious middle class American yuppie. (you know like the kind of people everyone pretends to be but no one is) It's not believable that someone raised with delusions of being elite and owning other people and being better than anyone else would ever be able to unlearn that.

HighlyIntoxicated 08-22-2014 08:17 PM

it's propaganda.

SpeedoDave 08-22-2014 09:15 PM

Ive been watching it and Satisfaction. Both ok but nothing compared to House of Cards which I really enjoyed.

Yeah, it seemed like it was going some place interesting when he was behaving differently when he got to his country of origin e.g. slapping his son etc. and then having his father say it should have been you and it looking like rapist Jamal was going to get assassinated.

I stopped watching when Jamal killed the blonde.

Juicy D. Links 08-23-2014 07:09 AM

Plutocracy 08-23-2014 10:09 AM

You're only a couple episodes behind, you should pick it back up. Its getting interesting again as Barry is close to launching a coup to overthrow Jamal.

Its believable because the writers do a good job early on of showing the father's atrocities and how Barry grew a hatred for that as a young boy and left home to go to America at 18. If you've been watching some of the recent episodes you'll see that he's starting to shed some of those American values and ideals that you allude to.

dehash 08-23-2014 12:55 PM

Thank you for the hint, watching it right now, not bad.

Nothing strange, good kids come from bad families on a daily basis.

I am not sure about that. Some people just wear masks to hide their sociopathic nature with varying degrees of success. Personally I have a theory that both slavery and masterhood are psychologically devastating on a permanent basis, and that that damage can actually span generations and require a great degree of total separation as well as social and economic upheaval to undo. Tyranny and oppression, inequality, demagoguery, nepotism, monarchy etc. are just lesser or slightly different forms of the same thing.

I can't really expound on all the details as I have never elaborated them before and this is really not a place for intelligent discussion of socio-political phenomena, but until my theory is proven wrong it continues to me the foundation I work from when thnking on these topics.

I am only The Walking Dead and 24 fan :)

Now it would be interesting turnout if TYRANT was actually Barry and not Jamal as most of the viewers assume. It would be a nice twist and make sense after seeing how cool blooded he killed that man when he was a kid, when poor Jamal could not.

Wow it also came on my mind yesterday after I finished 9th episode. He is too good character. I hate when characters are so perfect in books and movies. It would be nice turn.

valetudo 08-24-2014 04:41 PM

I kinda assumed Barry was going to end up the bad guy like Michael in Godfather. He will overthrow Sunni Corleone and end up worse than he ever was/could be.

NEW XTC 08-24-2014 05:11 PM

thx for the tip - 30 min in looks great

I thought about it after 7th or 8th episode. And in the 9th episode General Tarik sort of said something along the same lines about him :)
