Don't shoot pictures with money in them

I shot a set where there was a 100 dollar bill blown up and hanging on the wall. Photoshop will not let me edit any of the pics in any way because detection of bank notes....lol

Funny how serious the government is when people ignore their copyright

SmutHammer 08-21-2014 07:30 PM

I just thought you couldn't duplicate it within a certain size.

Agree!!

5.5 isn't THAT old .. 2011 or so, right?

SilentKnight 08-21-2014 07:57 PM

Adobe figured out years ago that adult webmasters would never have money to include in a photoshoot anyways.

Spunky 08-21-2014 09:59 PM

Have you tried with copy a piece of the wall and paste it in another layer in order to cover the bank note with it ?

Does that apply for any currency or is that some US thing? (US PS version I think?)

And since when did Photoshop start spying what's in your pictures?

You want to learn how to copy money, speak to the Argentines :2 cents:

Bladewire 08-22-2014 06:49 AM

You wonder how the maker of your wall art was able to create and distribute it without problems.

Well anyway I just tried importing the pic below into Photoshop and got the same message. Thanks for the info Ed, learn something new everyday!

Thanks, I was gonna look for a pic that brought up the warning to post for everyone that is curious.

They just scanned and printed, Don't think any editing was needed.

Tom_PM 08-22-2014 08:22 AM

I remember that "feature" of Photoshop being part of a news story some years ago.

rsc 08-22-2014 08:25 AM

Wow, I never knew that!

iSpyCams 08-22-2014 08:36 AM

Irrelevant fact: CCbill won't approve sites that depict currency.

editeur 08-22-2014 08:51 AM

No problems with GIMP with these images

signupdamnit 08-22-2014 09:17 AM

Interesting. You should have been able to use an alternate free editor such as GIMP to blur or crop out part of the $100 bill portion and it probably would have been fine to edit in Photoshop again.

That's what I figured. Since it is open source even if they put such code in there it could easily be removed.

You aren't allowed to counterfeit money; the U.S. government doesn't want any competition.

This is a great example of software distributors adding back-door code for Big Brother. Be careful who you trust!

I did not say it was old...but, I was telling him which version...in case the new cloud version might have been what he was using.

Counterfeiting money is taking something of value, making a perfect copy, then presenting it as legal to get a benefit.

It's what tubes and file sharing sites do with the content I, and others create.

Counterfeit content is devaluing our content, as counterfeit money devalues the dollar.

bxy 08-22-2014 06:01 PM

Tis funny, petty, but funny. Don't like Adobe anyhow.

DVTimes 08-23-2014 06:20 AM

does this apply to non usa notes, such as uk bank notes.

Barry-xlovecam 08-23-2014 06:52 AM

I don't think that this applies to obvious "camp art" like the giant poster on the models wall and only to counterfeit sized notes. Additionally, the US Secret Service says so also -- Adobe and PhotoShop have chosen a draconian approach. (Adobe makes you pay to get spanked too!)
Quote:

U.S. Currency
The Counterfeit Detection Act of 1992, Public Law 102-550, in Section 411 of Title 31 of the Code of Federal Regulations, permits color illustrations of U.S. currency provided:

The illustration is of a size less than three-fourths or more than one and one-half, in linear dimension, of each part of the item illustrated

The illustration is one-sided

The Federal Reserve does this with the dollar, but whatever.

Your content isn't worth much to begin with if it goes down in value as it gets shared. Why fight the mechanism that enables things to "go viral" -- that is, the ability for anybody to replicate and share your content. You must monetize your content in such a way as to benefit from the "counterfeiting" that may take place.
