 Green energy = dead birds

Vendzilla was right! Hundreds of thousands of birds (potentially) a year from one plant, holy crap. That's a lot of California Fried Crow.

all for it, tired of them shitting on my car after a fresh wash. :2 cents:

 That's fucked up.

Wow that's insane... those poor birds!
I wonder what could be done from an engineering point of view. Some kind of cover above the focal point protecting birds that may fly over it? Or maybe some kind of ultrasonic noise maker that scares birds away? |

 Wow, that sucks!
	 |

Apparently not very "green" energy. That definition doesn't cover every shit.

"Workers at the Ivanpah solar power plant call these birds “streamers,” as they ignite in midair and plummet to the ground trailing smoke."

This is just propaganda to get support for the testing of the first experimental plasma shields.
"We will be implementing an experimental plasma shield in an effort to save the birds" a future headline will read no doubt :2 cents: Google and their playtoys :1orglaugh |

 love the article title
".. IS ACTUALLY DEATH RAY INCINERATING BIRDS" :1orglaugh like it's some devious plan on purpose from a darth vader CEO |

"Back in January, it was estimated that — in the US alone — between 365 million and 988 million birds are killed every year by crashing into windows. We’re mostly talking about domestic, low-rise windows, too — not skyscrapers. Likewise, a study last year showed that domestic cats — yes, your beloved Fluffy — are killing more than a billion birds per year in the US."

Maybe they could add a few wind turbines, then they'd be chopped, cooked and ready to eat.
	 |

Fairly simple solution though, just put up some nets at the heights where the solar power is focused, I doubt you'd lose that much efficiency and the birds would be fine to land on the nets, as long as they were above the concentrated ray areas.

they know what would happened, they dont care

They built the plants on a plain right in the middle of the birds migratory path to a lake, and they want to build an even bigger plant, on the same migratory path. This could be a big problem.
Killing a few birds who gives a fuck but frying all the birds on their migratory path to water, through the desert, means those species are fucked :food-smil02 SOURCE |
