DRM Protected/Encrypted Videos
 

I know it's 2014 and this is the age of tubes and streaming.
I have bought about 30 videos of a specific niche, I would like to build a site and deliver them by WMV files (DRM protected and encrypted).
I fucking hate Micr@soft and its garbage but I have seen that there is no (officially) way to crack the DRM2. Average users have no tool to play an encrypted WMV file.

What do you think?

DRM will only annoy your good customers. Watermark your content and make it easy for your customers to watch or download it.

if its niche, it will be not tons of people buying it, right? then why not sell each video alone? and, if you are that paranoic, make the video downloadable just via link sent to email, put on each video other watermark, and once the video is shared, you know exactly who was it, and just share the guy with others :winkwink: have luck :)

If it can be played I can copy it and so can they. btw it's not your thieves and copy artists who would shell out money for your site anyways. Maybe you'll see a slight drop in youre content getting thrown around. Cost per dollar in that tech doesn't work for me. Try it out though and let us know how it goes. btw I'm serious, no smartass.

Right I want sell video alone, with a system that uses tokens, users buy a number of tokens and use those ones to get the certificates for videos. Users can download videos but can't play them, this will be annoying for someone but I think that the Conversion Rate should be better than normal digital delivery.

I think about a system like this:

no ... i mean, you can download, you can play, but owner can find from any video who was the buyer and who shared it ... lets say, you can have something in the code, but recompile the video will kill the part of the code, so lets say script will put buyers small username to few frames around the video, so normal user cannot find where it is, unless he go through every frame, but your script will find easily who was the buyer ... i dont think this is unreal and not possible, maybe someone did it already, just thinking about how would i try to protect my stuff ...

or you can simply remove few frames from the original vid, and once you see on youporn or pornhub or wherever your vid, you see those frames are missing, so expose those guy, and, of course, put on your page that penalties will be made if video is shared, and sue the shit out of him :winkwink: and, if there is database, that guy will be not able to buy porn anymore ... there cannot be millions of thieves, and once some system is made and thieves are exposed, tons of money will be made again! :winkwink:

It's an idea to develop, even if you need a very powerful dedicated server that can manage to recompile "on flight" a video of over 300MB.

yes of course that will be the cost, at the beginning, but at the end, you could be possibly able to filter all or most of your thieves, so more money from more memberships for you at the end :winkwink: :2 cents:
