Most Memorable Film Intro?

Mine? Forest Gump...

Every time I see a feather in the air, I think of that film, and hear the intro music in my mind...

Yours?

stoka 08-13-2014 01:32 AM

Markul 08-13-2014 01:55 AM

and

I love Countach's

MrBottomTooth 08-13-2014 05:00 AM

It takes a few minutes but irreversible starts out with a guy getting his head caved into a pancake with a fire extinguisher. It's pretty unnerving when you have no idea what the movie is about and aren't expecting it.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Star Wars

SilentKnight 08-13-2014 04:05 PM

Does the first 20mins. of Saving Private Ryan count as an intro?

That'd get my vote.

TrashyGirl 08-13-2014 06:42 PM

Reservoir Dogs

That's a great one! Didn't Scorcese do something similar for Goodfellas?
And something similar for The Birdcage by Mike Nichols?

Sunny Day 08-13-2014 08:40 PM

Low Key

Try THE PLAYER, a Robert Altman, where in the opening scene, Fred Ward explains how current movies are MTV, cut, cut, cut. Where Hitchcock takes A scene to create a whole movie.
Took me several minutes into the movie to get it.

GregE 08-13-2014 10:30 PM

This is an old one, but it's pretty powerful.

Far-L 08-13-2014 11:50 PM

Opening scene of "The Wild Bunch".

2MuchMark 08-13-2014 11:56 PM

Nothing beats the opening to Star Wars.

Blade Runner :)

newB 08-14-2014 07:15 AM

As far as superhero movies go, I think X-Men Origins: Wolverine did a very good job of telling the back-story during the opening credits instead of spending the first half of the movie bringing everybody up to speed.

candyflip 08-14-2014 07:37 AM

Not really open for debate in my opinion. Amazing shot. You meet all the important players right there in the opening sequence.

Oh yeah, especially when vets running to puke at the theaters made the news after it's release. Definitely counts.

Star Wars was the first that came to mind for me.

Beat me to it, I just re-watched it recently, still one of the most fascinating audiovisuals ever made in film.

PiracyPitbull 08-14-2014 01:30 PM

Trainspotting and If I'm allowed a little leeway than the very opening frame, the beginning of Saving Private Ryan or Gladiator.

Wasn't expecting anyone else to say this one but definitely. Was based on the directors real life experience too.

Also have to go with John Dies at the End's Axe conundrum.
