Mobile emulator I discovered
If this has been discussed before, I apologize in advance.
I was looking around yesterday for a mobile emulator to check out my sites with as I don't have all the latest greatest gadgets to play with. Found out that there is an emulator built right into chrome that works pretty well from what I can see. It emulates the screen size and user agent for a lot of the various mobile devices available. To get to it: 1. go to the chrome settings dropdown menu and select tools and then developer tools. http://www.madspiders.com/emulator/t1.jpg 2. In the developer tools there is a tab for emulation, select it. http://www.madspiders.com/emulator/t2.jpg 3. If you don't have the page you want to work on open yet, Then open it. http://www.madspiders.com/emulator/t3.jpg 4. There is a drop down box with a bunch of different emulations you can pick from. Choose the emulation you want. http://www.madspiders.com/emulator/t4.jpg 5. Hit the emulate button below the drop down. 6. You are now looking at the page as chrome thinks it will appear in that particular device. http://www.madspiders.com/emulator/t5.jpg http://www.madspiders.com/emulator/t6.jpg 7. When done, make sure to hit the reset button to return to your normal browser settings. http://www.madspiders.com/emulator/t7.jpg I compared it to an actual ipad presentation and functionality and it came a lot closer then the other ones that I had tried online. They seemed to emulate the screen well but did not seem to pick up on responsiveness at all, chrome loaded the proper styles etc. So, I hope this helps. |

This is much better than web based tools and even a few client based tools I've used.

Thing I like best compared to the others I tried is this one also emulates the functionality. I have some javascript doing some dynamic css chages for ios devices and the other emulators were not picking up on it. This one picked them up so I could do a better debug. Now I have to go through and make a bunch of other adjustments for some of the devices but this thing helps a lot. . |
Damn, looking back at this, I missed one thing.
Step 5A (between 5 and 6). Refresh your browser to pick up any elements that load dynamically (responsive styles, etc) Hate when I do that  . |

I go out to bars and when I see a chick that has a phone I haven't tested I just tell her she can see a picture of my cock on my website. Done. :pimp :1orglaugh |
