New Site SEO Opinions Wanted
I'm hoping to put up a small site this week for model recruiting and need some up to date advice. Here are the details...
1- 10 letter .com domain with keyword "model" in it. 2- Purpose is solely to give a bit of information to interested girls, show a few sample photos, collect information such as name, height, weight, and upload photos so I can I'll follow up with them later. 3- Needs to be mobile friendly as it seems no girls under 25 have a laptop these days. The questions I'm looking for advice on are: A- Hosting Options? I have Server with dedicated IP available that is hosting TrueBabes.com and a small photography blog. I have a second server thats hosting some adult related blogs, one adult related forum, and a couple of other basic photography related sites that also has open dedicated IPs. I have a Hostgator account on shared IP that is holding a company site, and as an add-on domain a moto-cross related site. I could add this to that account/server on shared IP. I could always open a different shared or VPS account if that would be best. So, question "A" which hosting option would more experienced SEO guys suggest? B- Built With? I'm doing it primarily for SEO and as a landing page for surfers coming from ads - and need it to be mobile friendly - Should you put this up with WordPress or just create a responsive HTML5 site? Its just 3-4 pages. C- Do design elements affect SEO? Meaning - would a very basic and fast design more likely catch traffic as compared to super graphical sites? Thanks in advance for the advice, Jimmy |
Fast, responsive, error free with related text to the subject.
Make sure to link authorship and send in social traffic. |
Thanks, but please explain "link authorship".
Thats new to me. |

If it's just a 3-4 page responsive site then just add on the domain to any one of your available hosting packages you already have. Using a VPS for a 3-4 page site is like killing a mosquito with a 12-guage. Add the domain to your Hostgator account and host it there. The shared IP won't hurt/help/affect your SEO at all. Neither will a dedicated IP, and there's no reason for a dedicated IP in this situation.
If you're looking for a new domain name, I've used - http://justdropped.com for many, many years. It's a great (FREE) tool to help you find available domains using specific keywords. I've found great ones in the past with this tool. Everything affects SEO but content is still king. And don't use WordPress for a 3-4 page site. It's bloated and there is no need for all of the extensive code and database. Good luck. |
Rob, supper good reply - THANKS!
I did have a question... you specifically remind me that "content is king" Are you thinking 3-4 pages might get stale? Should they be changed or updated often? |
I woudl def go a lot more than 3-4 pages and strategically link your inner pages. If you are using wordpress Yoast is a great plugin.

don't forget to backlink your website using model recruiting keywords. www.hardlinks.org

Let me be brutally honest with you about SEO. I have a client who paid me good money to rank them on google for the product name. Then they wanted to know why they didn't have sales. I told them when we started there is only 1000 searches a month. So do the math even if you convert 1:100 and get all 1k of that traffic that is 10 sales month.
So then we started a social media campaign and build up the presence on social media. Now they are seeing sales from that effort and more traffic from their brand name than the product search. So the point I'm trying to make is brand your model then the seo will have more value because people searching her name will be qualified buyers. People searching for sexy nude babe are not going to buy. So for a modeling site. You need local talent not global traffic. You need a site that when local models see it they want to work with you. Really what you need is something professional that looks good when you hand out business cards. OR you need a reputation that makes models want to work with you. Hostgator is not the best host but a ton of people use them so that shouldn't be a big issue with a new site. On site sep you need the keyword in the title and in H1 tags. Then you need quality content. To rank you need quality in bound links. There are a lot of free wordpress themes that are mobile friendly html5 sites rank fine. |

Local search on Google and Yahoo/Bing drives tons of traffic to my clients selling goods or services in person. |
Thanks everybody - lots of good tips in there.
