talked to flight school today
not bad prices, cheaper than i thought. said the whole course would cost around $4200. instructors are $25/hour, and plane rental is $63/hr for cessna 152, $106/hr for a 172. 50 hours or less instruction. they said if you go over that, they ground you :)
they sound like a pretty good school. going to go out for a ride one of these days soon. it would be basic 1-hr instructor/plane, but they give you credit for the demo if you take courses, and for referrals. :thumbsup |
I drive like I have a vagina....the idea of me flying would be very very very very scary.........
|
it costs like 11k in australia to get private pilots license
|
damn... 11k us? yikes! this would be it, for single-engine cross country and all. i've heard good things, apparently these guys know their shit. and it's at a real aiport (instead of one of those little airfields), and the guy claimed if i could fly out of there, i could fly out of anywhere :)
|
no thats australian dollar
|
ask them bout that no plane landing lessons discount

what do you want to know about flying? I can answer a lot I think! And 106 for a 172 seems a little steep!

Nice prices, how much to fly a 747 lol
|
Why do you want to learn to fly? Just curious

Is there really adult webmaster types out there that want to fly? Just curious, I would have never thunk it!!! I fly for a living and would be happy to help in that area!!! Of course I fly ems helicopters for a living which is a little different than a 172 but I also flew those a long time ago
|
I have also been looking into flight instruction at a couple local airports.
|
yeah, i totally love the flying thing. i figured i'd do the 152, instead of buying right away, that's fairly cheap. 50 hours of instruction...
$1250 for instructors $3150 for plane rental, really that's not too bad. and that's assuming i use all 50 hours. haha, 2 hrs, 3 times/wk, that's only 2 months :thumbsup |
That is cool, if you are ever in Florida I can take you up in a BK-117 on an ems flight and you could see a working machine do it's thing! If you don't mind the ems helo action of course!!!

dude, I fly them every day....and they do kick ass....I have been flying them for 16 years now and what we do with them is really amazing sometimes. I landed on a creek bank this afternoon and picked up a drunk that broke his neck diving in the water, we put them in some really tiht places sometimes! i have several hundred fixed wing hours and have been flying helo's since the military and wouldn't trade it for anything....if I could only get this adult webmaster thing down!LOL
|
My total time is around 7000 hours now.
regards, strato |
they're expensive tho...
do you fly one of those kick-ass ones... arg, can't remember the name... with the rear rotor as a ducted fan in the boom? |
No, that would be either the MD900 or the EC-135, I fly the BK-117 which is the one a lot of ems operators use. Want to see the exact machine I fly go to http://12.108.124.229/cjpublic/airme...mpageneral.htm
