Of course they can, with a warrant. They can also kick in your front door, cut up your furniture, dump your dresser drawers, rip up floors/walls. Having your computer and email account listed on a warrant is pretty tame stuff.

The fact is they have been able to read most electronic documents before the intended recipient could for over a decade, without a warrant. To use this information in court a warrant or tap order had to be in place when the interception took place.
What data/information you collect that is useful and what you use in court are almost always 2 different subjects. |
