Where Do I Look For Backlinks For A Mainstream Blog?

Where should I submit it? I'm not sure I want to do actual link trades as it's a charity driven blog. I mean the niche is charitible giving so I don't want to go for too many link trades.

Where do you guys submit your mainstream stuff?

don't forget the usual suspects tumbler, twitter, Instagram... all of that is still good link juice... wordpress.org, blogger.com, Google plus, stumbled upon...I could keep going but you get my drift :)
