Best Software For Creating Thumbs?
 

There are so many choices out there I was wondering who here has any experience with using thumbnail-cutting software? I'm looking for something that will edit in batch and let me crisp-up the thumbs. Paid is fine. :)

I crop pictures to create all my thumbnails with Photoshop using Actions to save time sharpening and adding contrast and saturation.

If you want good thumbs sometimes you just have to do the work that comes along with it. I hand pic all of my video screen grabs and use photoshop to make thumbs.

If you have Elevated X you can upload and crop thumbs really easy.

since 2003 i'm using arles image webpage creator for thumbs, tried photoshop - no match, photoshop's thumbs was bulky (in terms of weight) and looking much worse, not to mention that it takes much time to make thumb in ps even with script running.

arles is kind of one button utils and it's free now available at their page, just google it.

I don't do Photoshop and I do intend to pick and crop my own thumbs. But I know there is 'stand alone' software for this specific purpose. I just can't recall the name....

I use Arles for Gallery creation so that is good for cutting cookie-cutter thumbs. But I am looking for software that will help me crop, brighten, sharpen, play with aspect ratios, etc.

The GFY Educational Series post on buying skimmed traffic used to have a link to the software I am thinking of but now it mysteriously disappeared. LOL

Just saw this - I use Arles to create galleries from existing photos (for my Mem Areas) and it is fantastic for that. I do not know if it will work on videos and video capturing and screenshots? If so then I will try it out. :)

I think we used to use something called snatch it to grab thumbs from videos

I do the same thing. I create an action and then batch run it on all the photos in a directory. You can smart blur, watermark, crop, resize, and save hundreds of images in no time. :2 cents:

Batching Photoshop gives the prettiest thumbs, in my opinion.

There are a few choices out there that do batch thumbnails and you already have a few mentioned in this thread. Processing images prior to or even after creating thumbnails is another matter entirely and for that, I suggest:

It also has batch processing (requires their more expensive "studio max" version) and gives you really good images.

Unless you're using photoshop, you'll be hard pressed to find a bit of kit that enhances images the way this does.
