RIP Johnny Winter

Another great one that's passed away. :(

R.I.P. Johnny.

Just saw it on Yahoo. RIP

CDSmith 07-17-2014 08:11 AM

Hell yes he was great. RIP

While we're at it I got this in a news email a couple of days ago...

RIP Tommy Ramone: The last surviving member of the legendary punk band The Ramones, has died. The 65 year old founding drummer of the band co-produced their first three albums. Tommy passed away Friday night in his home in New York where he was being treated for bile-duct cancer.

Rock legends dropping like flies this week.

michael.kickass 07-17-2014 08:19 AM

Yeah, really sad, only Ramone left is Marky Ramone I think, not a founding member but the drummer who recorded more records in the band. :\

R.I.P. Johnny

The most black of all white blues guitarists, a guitar virtuoso with blues in his blood n bones, and a rock n roll heart.

Saw him live twice, first in 2001, then again four years ago - his health was seriously deteriorating already.

Have this concert on video, assume it's Toronto 1983.

R.I.P. Johnny - it was a great ride.

fitzmulti 07-17-2014 09:46 AM

He was a great one, to be sure.
RIP Johnny Winter...

MiamiBoyz 07-17-2014 10:06 AM

I ran into him in a bar in Kansas City about 25 years ago of all places after a show. It was a dive and I actually was fucking thrilled because I had to work and was not able to make it to the concert so it was amazing!

R.I.P.

Joining Duane Allman to play some slide in the great concert in the sky...

Robbie 07-17-2014 11:21 AM

Damn...opened up a couple of shows with him back in the 1980's. Incredible guitarist.

Tom_PM 07-17-2014 11:25 AM

I saw them so long ago I don't remember the decade. Probably the 70's!

Nothing like Frankenstein.

Wait, wasn't Johnny in the Edgar Winters group too? Still greatness.
"The song was actually performed three years previously when Edgar was playing with his older brother Johnny Winter at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970."

mchol 07-17-2014 11:32 AM

What a great guy. RIP.

NikolaMX 07-17-2014 11:33 AM

Rest In Peace.

baddog 07-17-2014 11:33 AM

Ranks in the top three worst live acts I have ever seen.

MediaGuy 07-17-2014 11:58 AM

He played a double bill with George Thorogood at the Spectrum once. It was an amazing show and performance, but one of the loudest if not the loudest I've ever heard.

R.I.P.

Go, Johnny Gone...

:D

No, don't think so; although he was known to come onstage with his brother which just resulted in a big screaming match from my perspective. Was a pretty good show until he got on the stage

DAMNMAN 07-17-2014 07:53 PM

The baddest blues player who ever lived was a pastie faced white boy. Damn
