The homeless can vote... undocumented children cannot. Comparing their political capital is silly. The issue is less about political capital and more that under Bush's anti-trafficking law, we've needed to since 2008 hold deportation hearings for all unaccomplished minors. Letting them go into the streets would guarantee zero show up for their hearings, most are being moved to relatives (and also likely won't show up for their hearings, because most of these hearings are months away because the courts have huge backlogs and the House is blocking the requested funding to dealing with the backlog) the reamining are being housed in these temporary shelters with the assumption is if we know where they are.. its much easier to deal with/find when the time comes for their hearings.

The real interesting question is "why" this is being allowed to happen. Who wins?

60,000 homeless vets in California is what I found on one website, that should be taken care of before one more person gets a green card, one more person can even apply for one.

How the hell can this country allow 60,000 vets to be homeless in just one state no less? I understand that there might be a few of them that choose that life and want to be left alone, but you have to assume at least 95% of them are people with legit problems who need help. Yet our leaders turn their backs on them. Makes me ill.

How the hell? Well this country is a machine that produces veterans, it chews them and spits them back to the society. The vast majority of them come back in a horrible mental state, they struggle to receive financial and medical support. A lot of them end up homeless or commit suicide.

I say, let all the kids stay. Once teenagers, they will work hard and love living here. Kids born in this country don't work. Kids here play video games and turn into diabetics. When is the last time you saw an American teen mowing a lawn for money? Or doing a paper route??? We should be importing all the kids from all the impoverished nations so they can teach our kids the meaning of work and pride.

American teens today don't want to work, they all want to be famous and have their own reality shows. Teens from other countries want to work hard, have families and live life.

They're being told to come here for welfare and a free ride. The clinic I used to go to in LA was almost 100% illegal immigrants riding on the backs of their kids who were born here making the family eligible for welfare until each child is 18.

My post was not about them. Its about the machine the feds have in place to produce the situation to open the border completely. In less than 50 years US will be nothing more than an extension of Central and South America.

Why not work with individual countries to redevelop their countries? Instead the US is bringing people here, gangs, drugs, disease and everything that goes with it while taxing the hell out of Americans and asking people to fight in insane wars.
