Zombaio Chargebacks

Ever since Zombaio started having problems paying out, our chargeback rate has gone from 0% to over 2%.

While we do 4x as much revenue via CCBill and another processor, we have ZERO chargebacks with them (suspicious).

Then, we get customers complaining about Zombaio double charging them, not responding to their requests to cancel their subscriptions, or being charged from other Zombaio companies. Zombaio also conveniently sends us broken payment notifications so our software deactivates accounts even if they pay. Several customers complained about being charged $50 from them for some webcam site from Zombaio they've never even heard of.

Now here's the kicker:
Zombaio calculates their chargeback rate by the amount AND the number. In other words, if you have 100 transactions and 1 chargeback, your chargeback rate is not 1%. It's 1% plus the amount, which ends up being over 2%. (No other processor, adult or otherwise, does this -- and their terms state they calculate by the number, not by amount or both. Another wonderful "surprise" Zombaio has come up with)

What's more, their chargeback ratio is rolling 30 days instead of the previous month. Chargeback ratio should take chargebacks in July to compare against all of June. But nope, not with Zombaio! Don't dare stop processing with them or your chargeback ratio will shoot through the roof and then they'll terminate your account and hold your funds.

Still 4 payments behind.

Unfortunately, Zombaio seems to suck. I signed up two years ago, to do some small sites and try them out, but the whole sign up process what a freakin' nightmare, so I said to hell with it.
Glad I did...I hate to see issues like yours.

Dear Eschaton

I am sorry to hear about your growing frustrations related to how chargebacks are currently being processed by Zombaio. Unfortunately they are not one of our 3rd party biller/PSP clients. Should you be interested in having your "friendly fraud" chargebacks successfully recovered for you, than I invite you to register with us online.

Should you have any questions you can email me

You don't have ANY chargebacks with CCBill yet do 4x the volume as with Scott Zombaio? I'm glad you added the word 'suspicious' because to not have any, ZERO, chargebacks with CCBill and this other 3rd party processor is quite unusual, no? LOL

We had a 0% chargeback ratio for the majority of the last several years we've been with Zombaio. All of a sudden they have problems, and now we get them all the time.

In fact, we switched from CCBill to Zombaio several years ago and back then, we still had a 0% CB ratio with CCBill.

Well I would like to know what you are doing right. LOL What sites do you run? I ask because I have honestly never heard of a 0% chargeback ratio. SOMEONE sometime must've charged back, no? If not then.....wow.

Eschaton 07-13-2014 08:32 PM

It's not 0% lifetime, it's historically been a 30 day 0%. Probably at least 10 months out of the year total. We'd get maybe 2 or 3 chargebacks per year. Lower than the average chargeback ratio of non-adult content. Couldn't tell you why.

9 Chargebacks since July, 2010. 12 if you count 3 returned checks. The site we process(ed) through Zombaio: 2 chargebacks. Yet, same f'ing site through Zombaio? Dozens of chargebacks. Coincidentally all occurring AFTER they start having issues, and getting reports of double billing, billed for sites they've never seen, not responding to cancellation requests, etc.

I am shocked that there are still threads about Zombaio.

How can anyone still be processing with this company ?

Thread after thread about non payment - one sniff of a payment issue should be enough to sever any business ties with a cc processor.

But I suppose you sell your product cheaper than the rest then there will always be some tight-wad who wants to save a penny.

A lot of processing companies have a hard time keeping track of charge-backs. It's possible some are old charge-backs that they just found. Or that your ratio has always been higher and Zombaio just can't figure out how to report it. Zombaio likes to make up its own rules as far as charge-backs go, and with a few other things as well.

@NewNick - All rebills. When you have thousands of members, cancelling rebills doesn't do anything as a large portion of them are people who may not re-join. We learned that lesson when switching from CCBill TO Zombaio.

@Pompus. They're not old. The chargebacks come in for their latest billings and we can look at the customers accounts on our site and see their activity.

Eschaton you are exactly right, I learned that lesson when Zombaio closed our account last year. That why I tell everybody, slow move away from and just have your rebills , but no new biz...:thumbsup

Well, sorry to hear about charge backs, but I wonder if someone got paid last two weeks.
I have pending load on card now 2 weeks and their support chat is off-line.
