Mike South's wet dream... Guess the " ____"

Not sure why it isn't making headlines...

The Adwords ban of the century and no one is even chirping about it...

I thought for sure Mike would be doing a jig. Muckraking is just not the craft it used to be... :winkwink:

Did they ban Brazzers or Manwin?

CaptainHowdy 07-09-2014 06:08 PM

Rochard 07-09-2014 06:11 PM

I thought they had pretty much done away with any "questionable" content, starting with porn.

Nope, real search engine traffic is just fine.

It's only people buying spots on Google that are in trouble.

Yup, my traffic from Google is better then ever - the ban just deals with people who were buying adult spots on adwords.

Some folks are known to spend and make millions on those adwords... Guessing you and Robbie would not be effected by your replies.

Ok. Get back to your stripper drama then. With that you have demonstrated a complete and utter ignorance of the reality of the situation as well as revealed you are willing to make shit up completely to pretend you do have a clue. You call yourself a fisherman when you couldn't catch a whale of a story even if it jumped in your showboat. :1orglaugh

How many companies do you know that spend 8 figures a year on adwords?

If you think that is trivial or won't have repercussions, both good and bad, then I just don't know what to say.

It's probably some idiot that tried to tell Google they are forcing them to buy ads because there is piracy listed on top... guessing their answer is I'm not forcing you to do anything, take your $ and go somewhere else...

You are supposed to let us know when that will happen.

Fucking world's gone crazy.

Robbie 07-10-2014 10:40 AM

I made millions on the internet before Google existed. I've never bought an adword since their existence.

This is very bad news for those people who centered their business around adword buying and selling in the adult sector.

My advice for those people would be to take your expertise into mainstream for adword buying and selling. Probably a lot more money in it (for offering your services as and adword expert that is)

Interesting. That would make you quite singular among your peers. Everyone I know from 93 to 97 that made millions then --- and is actually still around today --- has entire departments devoted to Adwords. I guess that is not the case with you. Not sure if that is really something to be proud of though considering how many millions have been made from Adwords campaigns.

Still, your advice to turn to mainstream with the experience from adult is solid and you are also absolutely right that people should never put all their eggs in one basket.

Didn't need Ad Words

We were a couple of the biggest TGP's in the world. I made those millions as an affiliate. :)

And for Claudia Marie's paysite...it's a solo girl/personality site. It's based on her fans joining. No need for Ad Words again. Just making sure we are number one for her name is the main thing for SEO in our particular case. Which is kinda why I'm not only unaffected...I'm actually happy about it because it really pissed me off when some sites would use her name as an Ad Word.

No need for you to backhand insult me I'm just telling it like it is. Ad Words is not the same as developing search engine traffic. It's just buying it.
That's all I'm saying.

If a person has a site that is built correctly then you will already have the relevant text needed to target your audience in the search engines. If a site is built that isn't correctly done and optimized...then you are in trouble.

Maybe all those people that you know should fire their staff of ad buyers and hire some guys who know what they are doing in terms of building a site that has the relevance to the search terms they are thinking about.

I never think about it like that though...kind of backwards. Just build a site that is GOOD, and then put in plenty of descriptive RELEVANT text and your all set without having to give Google any of your money.

The reason I scoffed at you is you are always bragging about all these millions you made in the heydey of tgp and were pretty dismissive of Adwords which obviously have been a huge revenue source for years.

Even using Claudia Marie as an example, and acknowledging that she is a brand that would drive a lot of organic traffic, the notion that you couldn't care less about additional traffic that could be driven to her site through adwords to me is just plain business myopia and not really something to be proud of imho. Also, with a branded term like "claudia marie" even just taking a defensive marketing approach to dealing with adwords would make sense and result in more traffic. :2 cents:

Tom_PM 07-11-2014 08:44 AM

Shouldn't be too hard to relate. Just imagine Ampland being banned right when you were making a million dollars a year as an affiliate with it. Too bad you centered your business around it, or a big effing deal? I'm thinking big deal.

I was just clarifying. Yes, I agree that it is a big deal. As well as some employees will be gone over it. Mike doesn't do news, he is more inuendo and falsehoods as far as I can tell.

Robbie 07-11-2014 08:46 AM

Agreed that ad words could have been a viable way to bring in traffic for a lot of folks.

It's just that "back in the day" there was no google and we had plenty of traffic. And then I also owned a content company that we sold in 2002. Again, no need for search engine traffic or ad words (if it had existed) for that business.

I would have LOVED to have been able to buy adwords for Claudia's site like "big tits". But when I tried to do that...they wouldn't sell ad words for any terms like that ("naughty" words).

But yeah, I can see why a lot of companies had to buy them.

And like I was saying...I think those same companies need to refocus on working on their sites to get them top ranked without having to buy the spot.

Not only will that save them money in the long run...but it will just make the sites "better" all the way around.

That's what I did as my defensive marketing approach with Claudia's site. When I saw what was happening with other sites getting the number one spot for her name...that's when I went to work and learned how to get that spot back.

It would have been a helluva lot easier (and more expensive) to just buy that spot, but I think I did the right thing business-wise by taking the time to learn how to get that spot myself. And I think it made a better site and tour which made for better sales in the long run.

I also found that when people did buy an adwords spot with her name...then my registered trademark for her became a very effective way to get that ad spot taken down by Google. :)

That would have been a HUGE deal to me at that time of course.

But it wasn't the only thing I was doing at that time.

And I'm only saying that if you want to make an analogy...that one isn't 100% right.

Porn isn't "banned" on Google. It's just banned on Ad Words. So that means that everyone who relied on Ad Words for search engine traffic needs to get their sites filled with relevant text that targets the search terms they are looking for...and make sure the coding of the site is search engine friendly as well.

It takes a little bit of reading and researching...but it's not rocket science or anything too difficult.

I have a feeling that folks will adapt to this.

Tom_PM 07-11-2014 09:00 AM

They'll adapt or die off as normal. I mean the same could still be said with my poor analogy though. If one domain is banned, start another.. adapt. Rebuild. But MANNNNNN what a bitch! Adwords is/ was cake compared to an organic site. You barely even need a domain. Just a place to land that you can edit linking to a site that matches. Barely need to do anything with that once it's set, and from there it's all just monitoring keywords and throwing money into the hopper.

Robbie 07-11-2014 09:06 AM

I know that people like to be derogatory on here about this business. But I believe that the majority of guys who have been successful for a long period of time like Far-L, have had that success because they are smart.

And smart people find ways to get things done.

I'm gonna assume that some of the sites who used Ad Words really were just looking at numbers and that the porn on their sites was just "product" to them.

But there are a lot of guys out there who really are in the porn biz and know their shit inside and out. I think they will see this happening and hopefully go to work on getting those search engine spots based on how good their site is for a particular search term.

Ok, good to see you weren't ignoring the search term you branded and that is where I do give you a lot of credit; in so far as, you focused on branding rather than just chasing the latest niche and becoming ubiquitous like so many others.

Adwords is not only source of traffic, there is still bing/yahoo plus billion of non-search engine traffic brokers.

Interesting that this thread stays on the front page but an exclusive story that still hasnt been run by avn or xbiz about aebn losing their ACH account is now a dead post.

I get Far L wanted me to take up his case but truth is it was old news and everyone here pretty much knew it.

The new story generated no interest....Maybe Farl L doesnt get ACH or wires from aebn

Im not bitching at all just makin a point

truth is the story like the one on aebn are the stories I most love to break because they do have bearing on everyone in the biz yesterday it was aebn today it could be you whereas this story has no bearing on you if you dont buy adwords

I do think the time when google punishes the tubesites in serps is coming...as it should

Actually, you and every other so-called adult news channel has still missed the real stories on the Google issues. I guess your inside sources must be on the outside these days. Significantly, it actually does impact the entire industry. Also, it ties in to the other issues that are completely changing the playing field with regards to tube traffic, google traffic - paid and organic, and to be honest, way more money is on the line there than the AEBN deal even comes close to representing.

If you actually really acted with any sort of journalistic integrity then that would be instantly apparent. You might even find that it is more newsworthy than programs/affiliates having to change a payment method when companies move banks. Seriously, that sort of story has not been front page for years.

However, you are almost on the mark with the "punishes the tube sites in serps" - just a bit late to the table - that punishment is exactly what has been going on now for a while and the adwords deal represents only one part of where Google is trying to "correct" the situation. Google loves the tube sites for delivering good user experience but hates them almost for the same reason. Free content is good, people like that, but free content that you can see everywhere not so much, because people don't like that. Kind of a catch-22 when it comes to search algorithms.

Testy, testy. No need to get so scabrous bro.

I just know how much you like to OP ED about the misfortunes you hope befall the nemesis you lamented and raged against and by which tilting against made your reputation as a tough town crier / Op Editorialist. The fact that you were silent about it made me think you were losing your Op-Edge. That's all.

I am sorry if I offended you because I was actually trying to do you a favor. I guess I will just go get my horse high and ride off into the sunset. Looks like this town is still going to be needing a sheriff...
