Accepting Western Union For Custom Scene
I have had a request to produce a custom scene for a guy located in Fiji. Only thing is that he says that he can only pay by Western Union. Are there any scams I should be aware of?
I've never used WU before and I'm very cautious. The sum he is offering is pretty substantial and he as agreed to pay up front! |
Wait until the money is in your hands before anything is done. Period.
Also make sure everything is in writing and invoiced properly. |
With Western Union I think normally the risk is for the person sending the money since there is no way to get a refund.

OK, that's what I thought. Thanks.

Just doing a quick search I see about the only way they could fuck you is if they send you a link to a fake / phishing site to verify the funds are in your account then you somehow sent them the goods before collecting your money. Not sure how anyone could fall for that, but I suppose anything is possible.

WU is safe, but as posted above, don't use any "links" or whatever, to check if funds are ready. Get the transaction # from the sender.
Also, they ONLY need your name and general location {State for example} to send the funds. "You'll need your receiver's first and last name, country and city to send money. (Some countries may require a state name, too.)" When I have received funds, I do "pick up at a WU location", rather than a "wallet" or "into my bank". {Unless it is someone I know and trust 110%}. If it is a VERY substantial amount, then maybe call WU and see if the funds were sent, and if a location near you has the $$$ for you to pick it up. |
