I've already started doing this too.

Godaddy is DONE - dead for me as domain registrar or anything else...

Chosen 07-04-2014 06:10 PM

Never used them...

ErectMedia 07-04-2014 06:32 PM

Coupons are still out there just not as easy to find. Their discount club is the best deal if ya have enough domains to justify it. :2 cents:

They have cut back on renewal coupons not new purchase coupons. I'm in the discount club and have an account rep so don't need to look for them. Been using them 11+ years with no issues.

Supz 07-04-2014 10:15 PM

your google skills suck

druid66 07-05-2014 12:49 AM

show me coupon for .org renewal.
ofc i've found one and successfully applied, i save around .80c
i don't have enough domain to join their big boys club i guess i'm not wanted customer.
oh and did i mention i've paid for 2years of priv on namecheap 2 or 3 $?
compare it to godaddy prices of priv.

Well, I've already moved half of my names.... many $$$ saved already.
Since there are no more decent renewal codes. Renewing .com domain with privacy on godaddy is something like $25 while somewhere else you get it for $8. Why pay triple? It's a rip off. They threat now the same way a person that has 200 domains and a person that has only 1 domain with them. They will lose big time on this unless they will start to treat people accordingly to the number of domains a one owns.

i disagree. lets assume they have million small domains owners, who has like few domains each, so those small guys are clearly worse category customers so it's ok to charge them higher correct?

but small guy is also calculating, and he will move all his few domains to save money, lets assume this million small guys will move their domains. godaddy will stay only with couple of big bros?

that's good solution for you?

well, not like i care much about godaddy i'm gonna move definitely, if you didn't guessed yet i'm one of those who own jus few domains so i'm calculating and i'm feeling treated like a piece of shit by godaddy.

Ryu, i did this thread cuz i was pissed on godaddy and i wanted to share my feelings with others adult trolls here if i wan't to contact godaddy i would do this but i see no points, it won't change anything.

They cut down the renewal coupons cause their trying to get ya to join the discount club. If ya only have a handful of names doesn't make sense. I'm in it which makes sense cause I have 500+ with them so the savings pays for the damn club plus I used a coupon to buy the club membership.

armysmoke 07-05-2014 06:24 PM

I register new .com's at GD with a coupon for 99 cents to $3.17.

I then transfer the domains to namesilo when it's time to renew for $8.99. Comes with 1 year renewal and free lifetime whois privacy.

I've never used namecheap but I have heard good things about them.

I've had no issues with namesilo.

Free lifetime whois privacy http://www.namesilo.com/Support/WHOIS-Privacy

Same here. I moved my domains to silo guys as their pricing (8.99 or 8.39 per transfer) is one of the best + no upsales or coupons needed. Plus free privacy. Deal is hard to beat. Godaddy has discount club but it is only good for those with 50+ domains or so.

But you don't get privacy with the discount club.

Right. So if you don't need privacy and have many domains then the discount club is just fine.

If you do need privacy and have many domains then you need namecheap or namesilo as the discount club with godaddy won't save you anything privacy-wise.

druid66 07-06-2014 05:07 AM

thanks for info guys i was decided to move to namecheap cuz of their low privacy costs, but no privacy costs beats it up.

any more opinions about namesilo? anyone got smth bad to share maybe?

ed.: how about renewing .org domains what is better namecheap or namesilo?

greg80 07-06-2014 07:14 AM

namesilo is great

yumlab 07-06-2014 07:21 AM

godaddy marketing - advertising - is not for one 0.25 cola - so you pay always with the nice godaddy-girls ...

bxy 07-06-2014 07:55 AM

It still beats the $200 that Network Solutions use to charge. But your right GoDaddy does not care, by hook or crook they are going to get you.

It is a shame when any business thinks they need to treat their customers with disrespect.

Domain Administrator
PO Box
Pre Paid Cell Phone or Google Voice #
Whois@(YourDomainName)

Been running this way for 11 years as I've been selling domains over that time and the reason I generally have hundreds of domains in stock, prefer this as whois contacts come direct then as don't wanna lose a lead over some whois privacy forwarding that doesn't get through. :2 cents:

Interesting.

So for domain name you just put "Domain Administrator" ?

And do you actually rent a P.O Box or make one up?

Godaddy have been sending me the emails asking for updated contact info every year saying if it's not accurate ICANN can take it away etc ...

yes, along with my main domain reseller site as company name, many other domain resellers, some very large resellers do this as well

as long as the email, phone and postal mail get through to you it's legit, confirmed by my GoDaddy account rep and been running this way for 11+ years, so it eliminates my first/last name, home address and personal phone number being in whois replaced by company name, po box, pre-paid cell, and an email address that is just used for whois.

^^ This. I do have an Exec Account Rep as well. Smooth transactions on new & renewals every time.

Godaddy has been trying to make it's balance sheet look pretty for an IPO. They haven't turned a profit this decade and now they are cutting off their nose to spite their face.
