Real slavery still exists but the lovely people in the media do not want really care to expose it. They just keep making movies about how evil white people are because of what plantation owners did in the USA. I am fine with making movies about what happened in the USA which I agree was inexcusable but you would think the focus would be on STOPPING slavery that is happening right now. But of course it is not the RIGHT KIND OF PEOPLE enslaving people at the moment so no want or need to demonize them.

is there human trafficking coming in hoards by the thousands and used in an open slave market? no, then no you can't compare the two...

I read some of the plantation records maintained by my family in early 1700's. They tried using Irish, funny, we are Irish as well, but the Irish being sent were weak and or drunken and lazy. Also, not made for Georgia and South Carolina heat. He regretted making the switch but had no choice. Once productivity shot through the roof because Africans were stronger and prepared for the environment there was no turning back.

Interesting how slaves in turn bought slaves. People were chattle. People are chattle today just not owned but enslaved by debt and a system bent on keeping them that way.

black slaves cost 10x as much so the Irish were used for the dangerous work ... and it was big business that instituted slavery... it was against the law to set a slave free and they also made the whites go on patrol looking for runaways and other misbehaving slave for no pay as a 'civic duty' ... lot's of bullshit involved for sure...

Some of what this guy talks about happen over 400 years ago. All races had salves.

But here is something important about us in American. Over 640,000 soldiers died or wounded to end slavery. A new party was found on the idea to end it. And another 390,000 died trying to keep it. 2,000,000 Union soldiers won the war. And one of our greatest presidents died over it.

80 years before the war there was free states. So for more then 200 years in this country there was people fighting slavery. Later they where called the Union army or, Republicans.

from what I've read about the Civil War the majority of any slave that was in the Civil War action on the south. Mostly were servants. I haven't read any where were they were actually soldiers., but considering if they were slaves. I'm sure they weren't Freemen on the battlefield.

But you're missing my point. Millions of people in this country were involved in ending slavery. at least a million people died on the battlefield. we know Abraham Lincoln got shot. Because of his role in the Civil War. but don't think I don't get your point. Liberals progressives love to try to score points by saying the country is racist. Here's a surprising fact up until the 1960's the Democrat Party with support from the KKK. Were the ones who put the Jim Crow laws in effect. they were upset that they had lost the Civil War and couldn't have slaves anymore. And it took up until the 1960s they had to finally give up their ideas of blacks. it's kind of ironic. many of the progressives try to say that the parties switch sides. Course that's a lie. Democrats finally had to abandon the idea that they could gain votes by being such a racist. they're full of such shame. they tried to hide it. But the philosophy is still the same even in Europe. a left wing progressive is the same here and over there. But they just having one here completely yet

I would argue that in the US the attitude is more: US slavery was bad and is now gone. Slavery outside the US is mostly out of sight therefor out of mind and we don't care.

The ugly truth is that it fucked all of us over in a long run. If it wasn't for slavery, we would have this prison population and ghettos in every big city.

Fact #1: Blacks were sold into slavery to Whites by their own kind. Other blacks.
Fact #2: It was the Whites that ENDED slavery in the US.
Fact #3: All races have experienced slavery.
