2 Weeks To Turn On Gas?

I'm moving into a new apartment in Los Angeles and I'm trying to get my electric and gas turned on and the electric will be turned on tomorrow and the gas company said they are booked up till the middle of July WTF!!!!! Is this normal? I mean who the fuck can wait two fucking weeks to use hot water and cook a fucking meal???

I rented my new place while I was still in my old place. Gave me time to casually move shit over instead of being rush rush and to have cable, internet, gas, electric etc... all ready to go before I officially moved in. Everyone was basically ready to come next day on installs but set everything up for a Saturday and just chilled there and everyone came and all was good. I'm in Chicago though so no clue about LA.

I'm not shocked. When I lived in Los Angeles it seems like everything took a long time.

Go easy on them, there's this whole valve that they have to turn 90 degrees, and then there's the coffee breaks, and I'm sure they send 2 people out so that one can watch the other guy and tell him about his weekend. These things take time.

Call them back, and let them know that your "elderly mother or father" is moving in on {insert date here}, that they have medical/health equipment which runs on electricity, and you need gas for preparing their special needs diet. For their health and safety, they need to turn on the service by that date.

If you tell this to them with confidence you will be placed on a standby list and should have service within 2 days. If the first line of customer service gives you any trouble, don't argue with them, just make sure you have their full name and title, then ask to be immediately transferred to their supervisor.
