Suarez 'the biter' under investigation by FIFA

Luis Suarez is in trouble. FIFA has charged the Uruguay forward with biting an Italy defender in World Cup action. FIFA says its disciplinary committee has begun an investigation of the incident. The incident overshadowed Uruguay advancing to the round of 16 with a 1-0 win over the Italians. GIF of incident: https://vine.co/v/MtJJmIjJB2M

NY Times Quotation of the Day --

"This is a football World Cup, not about morality, cheap morality."
~ ÓSCAR TABÁREZ, coach of the Uruguayan soccer team, on accusations that a star player, Luis Suárez, bit an opponent during Uruguay's 1-0 victory over Italy.

My question is, why hasn't someone knocked his teeth out long ago after any of these biting incidents?

Should FIFA perma-ban this fucking idiot?

bushwacker 06-25-2014 11:44 AM

I can understand players getting upset during the game, but would your first reaction be to bite someone?
He does have a serious overbite, maybe gnawing on human flesh is soothing. :1orglaugh

Scott McD 06-25-2014 11:46 AM

3 bites and you're out!

Bye bye Suarez...

Sly 06-25-2014 12:08 PM

In what world is it "acceptable" for an adult to bite another adult, repeatedly?

Guy has anger issues and most likely a boatload of mental issues. Don't be surprised if you read of him stabbing his girlfriend to death because she wouldn't swallow.

To get knocked out you MUST play in real sports, like Hockey :upsidedow

dyna mo 06-25-2014 12:10 PM

why are all y'all so threatened by soccer biters?

Ironically, if he was merely a pillow biter no one would be threatened whatsoever.

I really just want to know why none of the bitten players had enough sack to jam their fist into this guy's face and bust his teeth out. Are all soccer players that passive or is he just feasting on the weak ones?

I got knocked out playing high school soccer.
Took a kick to the head.....

And 321.... let me save u the trouble.

Now that explains a lot....

CDSmith 06-25-2014 01:32 PM

More from NY Times...

The longest suspension for an on-field action at the World Cup is eight games, to Mauro Tassotti of Italy in 1994 for breaking the nose of a Spanish player with his elbow. Last week, FIFA suspended Cameroon midfielder Alex Song for three games for an elbow that led to his ejection from a loss to Croatia. Suárez can probably expect more.

He was suspended for 7 games for his first incident, 10 games for his second. Is simply banning him for 15 or 20 more games really going to be enough to finally get it through this moron's head?

I thought the same thing, even in suarez case here, if he's mad at a player why not just take a swing at him instead? would probably be less outrage. but then I thought how i would react to be bitten and figured i'd probably be quite surprised and would probably spend a few minutes figuring out WHY the hell someone just bit me before i reacted to it!

mineistaken 06-25-2014 01:50 PM

What's up with the quote by the coach? I am not sure I get it.

The Uruguayan coach? It looks pretty clear to me that he's saying Suarez's value as a player in the WC should override any moral outrage over his alleged bad behavior.

In other words that coach is an idiot.

Actually I think he's saying the world cup is not the place to be passing judgments on the morality of others. Or something.

bronco67 06-25-2014 06:38 PM

With all of the other shenanigans that go on during a game, it seems like biting would be par for the course. Fuck that sport.

dyna mo 06-25-2014 06:44 PM

I'm going to pistol-whip the next guy who says shenanigans.

CDSmith 06-25-2014 07:08 PM

No, I don't think biting is what most players signed up for. Shin-wacking, cleat-stomping, head-on-head header collisions, all par for the course. Biting? That's way above and beyond.

Incidental collisions don't generally come with a tetanus shot for one thing.

In this world cup a player got a knee to the side of the head and was out cold, he carried on playing after treatment.

David! 06-26-2014 03:54 AM

Breaking news, they just sentenced Suarez to one week in a kennel!

CunningStunt 06-26-2014 03:59 AM

Loved the headline today, "Chuey Luis and the Blues".

Ban the animal for 2 year is my verdict. And I support Liverpool oddly enough. Sad state of affairs.

Scott, you always used to give me boobies, lest we not forget. :1orglaugh

(Sorry, been away a long time, rather pissed, missed you guys)

Was pretty fucking surreal. I though the guy had died, the medics couldn't get him to senses at first.

And yesterday's game too, Ecuadorian player was bleeding from all over his head, they had to bandage him.

wehateporn 06-26-2014 06:50 AM

Nine game ban and banned from all football for four months

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28023882

"World governing body Fifa have imposed a record nine-match ban on Uruguay striker Luis Suarez for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

The independent disciplinary committee imposed the suspension after finding the 27-year-old guilty of misconduct.

Suarez has also been banned from all football for four months.

The incident occurred during Tuesday's 2014 Fifa World Cup Group D game, which Uruguay won to qualify for the last 16. "

One of Suarez's teammates.

A nine game ban. What a big let down for the Uragyuan fans.

oppoten 06-26-2014 07:14 AM

That's actually quite lenient.

Captain Kawaii 06-26-2014 07:32 AM

How much of a ban did the Algerian headbutter get or did he just retire?
Whats worse headbutting or biting?

And yet you suck at it, you need foreigner coaches 'cause you don't know shit about this game. And we have more glory per head than you'll ever dream to have.

How many stars do you have in your t-shirt candyflip? Have you ever win something my dearest?

He is appealing his 9 game ban.

Won't work Suarez...

Only 9? Some analysts yesterday were saying it could be as high as 24. What a surprise that he's appealing. Little pricks like him always play the denial card.

This is his third confirmed offense. If it were up to me I would ban him for life. It's not like he's vital to the sport's survival. There are always a rising crop of new "stars" on the horizon.

Slimjim should hire him as a spokesman

Next time you are up 2-1 and feel like biting an opponent.. Snap into a slimjim instead

Easy ad to run and would move beef jerky at every bodega
