Doesn't seem to have any original content. Just scrapes all it's content from other authoritarian sites. Seems like a clear duplicate content violation.

Google isn't republishing the content, it's curating the content by displaying a short summary then linking to the original.

Lol,for all sites available as example,you had to pick google one?I kind a doubt they would ever de rank their own site no matter what.In fact,i am sure how if you would change an ip whois to match google how google bot would automatically think how it's owned by google and push it to the top.

You do make a great point though. Google News is fully automated. There is no unique content whatsoever. And like I said it beat the original content providers for the term "news" on Google. Really an affiliate tube is no different (even with sponsor descriptions).

Their greed and need for total domination and control will be their downfall.

Unfortunately a large number of affiliates create cookie cutter sites that offer no value to surfers, or the content on them can be found on thousands of other websites.

Content curation is different - it's the manual or algorithmic selection then presentation of content in a way that provides added value to the end user. One of several reasons Google provides added value because it's one of the most popular sites on the web and having a news tab is valuable to many people.

I still don't see the difference.

So if a thousand people offered the same news feed then google would see its own news feed as spammy? But if it is the only one then it is not?

Don't really believe this.

Google has lots of power.

Entities who do usually do whatever they want and break their own rules.

The key here is the authority of the site. Authority is believed to be a ranking factor.


Google has penalised it's own sites before, it will do so again if they're found to be not following the Google webmaster guidelines.
