Can you really complain about Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime just added music streaming to their $99/year package which already included streaming video library, book library and free shipping on tons of items. But people still complaining that they don't compare to netflix or spotify. Ok. But Netflix won't send me any nagchampa incense with free shipping and spotify won't let me read any of the GOT books for free on my phone. I understand that Amazon Prime doesn't have as many movie/tv titles as Netflix but it is much cheaper and includes all these other services. Why mutha fuckas gotsta hate on dem? Amazon Prime = $99 or Netflix+Spotify = $240 ....I actually subscribe to all 3 but just wanted to make case for Prime ;)

hmm i thought amazon prime was for shipping..

Rochard 06-21-2014 11:12 AM

I have Prime, but mostly for the free two day shipping. I also use Netflix for movies and Rhapsody for music. I was one of the first Rhapsody users back when they software for your MP3 player and they charge my only $19 a year for unlimited streaming music so I'll never leave them. I've never used Amazon to stream movies yet.

I would totally get Amazon Prime if I didn't already have a huge Amazon warehouse near me that's gets me all my stuff overnight even with the free shipping.

That's nice, honey.

It's depends on case-by-case basis - for some people it's well worth the price, for others not really.

Myself I don't find "Amazon Prime" worth the price due to weak online video library and the fact that I still getting FREE standard shipping on most of the stuff anyway - here is no rush for me for 2 days shipping.

But, I'm in SF - they mail most of my stuff from California or Nevada in few days anyway, even under "Free Standard Shipping" choice (for order over $35)

If you live somewhere in Urban areas, 2-day shipping probably will worth the price.

I live in los angeles, a test area for amazon, such as amazon prime fresh and in my experience, amazon waits 4 days before shipping non-amazon prime orders. I checked this several times a few months ago when my 9 year old prime membership came up for renewal about the same time amazon increased the fee to $99. They stalled on shipping every order. Sure it shipped in 2 days but the total time from time ordered to delivered was typically 6 days. I then renewed my membership and the snappy same-day processing times returned.

Prime's doing same day delivery here now for $5.99 extra per order. and they jut opened up th emusic library to prime and added a ton of hbo shit too. I canceled my netflix account long ago in favor of prime streaming.

They also added the Prime Pantry feature for non-perishable food and household products - eligible to Prime members.

Oddly enough this thread might get me to drop Amazon Prime. I had noticed the free shipping and then prime shipping but I have been a Prime member forever so didn't know it was offered free for a longer wait to non prime members.

F-U-Jimmy 06-22-2014 04:55 AM

Im a Prime member but i believe that its a bit of a rip off. They coerce their sellers into charging customers more for products while giving Amazon a better price. The difference covers the cost of two day shipping. In 50% of the stuff i buy from them i can get it cheaper from a non Prime seller with free shipping. The video selection is at best poor with a ton of old outdated movies making up the bulk of the downloads..

I always feel sad when I read your posts. Your view of the world and things in it must be a daily burden for you to deal with.

have luck :)

I love prime and since I'm also a student(the worlds oldest freshman).I get it for $49 a year.

RyuLion 06-22-2014 12:18 PM

amazon prime doesnt work for me I have an android based HTPC and it doesnt work on android...so worthless to me.

carpocratian 06-22-2014 03:51 PM

The two-day free shipping used to make it worth it to me.

With the rise in price, their use of the USPS for deliveries, the advent of taxes on Amazon purchases in Texas, and increasing number of damaged items I'm receiving, it's not longer worth it.

I don't care about the streaming movies, music, ebooks, etc. It's purely about the shipping for me. As such, it has become much less of a good deal for me, so I may not renew.

I have noticed that, AND the third party sellers don't usually charge tax. That's why I will probably drop Prime.

PornDiscounts-V 06-22-2014 03:58 PM

WHile I enjoy the 2 day free shipping I often use it so that I can pop for SAME DAY shipping for another $1 to $3 depending on the item.

solid points. I order ~30x a month with amazon prime and the recent, since christmas, use of USPS puts a big WTF on things. Especially the bullshit Sunday delivery, so if I order shit on Friday, it's delivered on Sunday now, but instead of delivering my shit on Sunday, the USPS guy just writes in he attempted to deliver it, when he never tried. Happened 4x now. I have to fill out redelivery shit, etc. bullshit.

But.

I call amazon and gently complain and have gotten discounts and 100% money back on all the headache related things.

Also, they're promising an android app to stream.

Juicy D. Links 06-22-2014 05:38 PM

i love it , even though all the shit i order comes from 3 or 4 warehouses within a one day ship area...I am in NY
