Charge More For 4K?
 

I have some 4K content coming up and I was wondering if anyone has thought about charging more $$$ for 4K content?

With 4K you can transfer the film or clip to a USB and play it on UHD TVs. And 'UHD' (Ultimate Hi Definition) is a small but growing niche. And you know how tech is: in a year or two 'UHD' will be the norm.

So until then: charge more for 4K? 'More' as in more for a monthly Membership or even an individual clip. Crazy or good idea?

Better offer the content as a bonus with the same price.
This way the members will be happy and even recommend your site for the new 4K content.

I know Brazzers did a deal where if you were a member for at least 3-6 months you got access to 1080 HD...

Just reward loyalty or charges for 3 or 6 months.

Everybody is just going to steal it and post it somewhere else for free.

Is it going to be part of another website or will it be a stand alone site?

All the content is shot in 4k and I was wondering if I should charge more because of that? I do not see much 4k erotic content available.

What about having the normal HD content at the monthly rate, and then charging a flat fee ($5-8?) for each 4k clip download?

Don't charge more. Use it for a reason to join the site compared to others.
That is all I can really say for now but the change will be so high you will notice without even keeping track

Now that is an interesting idea. I have 'HD' versions for some of my most popular sites (which can be found on Erotic Revenue) and I was considering upselling (charging) members of the 'SD' version to view the 'HD' versions. But then I thought the differance between 1280x768 and 1920x1280 or whatever wasn't that big a leap to justify the extra charges. Perhaps I should A-B test that but since we're talking upgrades there may not be enough data to give me a clear decision.

But charging per 4k clip is interesting because there really IS a differance between even a 1920x1280 'HD' clip and a 4k clip you can watch on your big screen TV. Hmmm...

Well let's certainly hope so! It all comes down to the marketing, too. Letting people know the clips are in 4k is key I think. :)

Only 1% of people will actually download the 4k but its a sure way to make sure your scenes will be valuable 10 years from now and stand the test of time. 10 years from now broadcasting is going to be 4k as it evolves the same way HD did. Being ready for the future is very important for adult as you know old SD scenes are just about obsolete and aren't what the broadcast market wants. Answering the question you could charge more since it takes way more bandwidth and you need brand new monster system to work with it. I just built a new machine for 4K all SDD drives and 3.84 4th generation quad core processor and it wasn't cheap.

Id keep same prices. 4k is not any diff to most on the web.

Not a chance broadcast will be 4k in 10 years, maybe 20 to 30 years.

Nice content, why so little reference to the 4k? Treat it like it's the thing you need right now.

It would be such a small market right now and very few will have 4k capability, but your 1080p users will love the 4k stream, it'll seem/be clearer for them.

Plaster the 4k all over your tour man. Use a big HD view first thing on the page and make sure they know it's 4k-inside

Offer it as a benefit for 4k users and 1080p users alike. maybe it'll be one extra thing that puts you above any competition.

I wouldn't charge extra for it, to be honest. It's not really a selling feature that's broad enough reach yet.

People are working on 8k

Now along comes Japan?s public broadcasting organization NHK with 8K, a format so dense with detail that the human eye will not detect additional resolution ? a claim I've heard made for 4K. I guess now we can be doubly sure there's no way to make it look better.

4k is pretty new so not many people have it yet.
Then out of that small number of people, one of them happens to join your site.
So the 2 to 10 people that will have 4k why charge them an extra fee?

you don't charge more when you add a full site to your network membership package why do the opposite here? it just sends mixed messages and adds confusion. Your overall pricing structure is bulk/discount, don't confuse that for surfers..

That's my thinking, too. Perhaps offering more for the 4K downloads as an upsell is a possibility.
