I think you mean of Costa Rica advancing, but if you mean England advancing out of this group, I would have to say I did. I had Uruguay and Italy advancing.

Well this is one of the reasons why i love soccer - in most of other sports,world cup is basicly a copy of europe cup as usually non-europe teams are more just for training then real opponent .

I'm not shocked. Costa Rica are impressive.

Italy losing to supposedly weaker opposition isn't a shock either. It's happened many times before.

Italy -- shocked, stunned and dumfounded...but still in it for the moment.

England -- worst WC outting in what, 30 years? Longer? Just a pathetic way to be put out of their misery.

Costa Rica -- I'm liking them more and more. Everyone loves a good "little guy" underdog story, I hope they go far.


In other news France looked pretty good yesterday. They, the Netherands and Germany look to be the three teams to beat so far.

England has a history of bad performances during the last few+ EC/WC so why not?

Although they lost twice, they've played better than the last wc, which was a draw against the US and Algeria.

Rather play well and lose like the Italy game, than just stink up the place.

I thought it should have been an easy-ish group for England.

Italy proved yesterday that they aren't anywhere near the level they used to be. Uruguay were soundly beaten off Costa Rica (who aren't exactly fancied in the tournament).

England and English fans get conned when they see their players picking up over £300k per week in the league, and believing that actually means they are as good as that.

As we all the know the English league pays huge sums of money and wages to very average players...

England has talent, they just don't perform well together.
Team is kinda new and might do better in the Euro Cup.
