Rockefeller billionaire's son dead after single-engine plane crashes minutes after takeoff

Looks like some other powerful people took revenge or fired a warning shot :2 cents:

The small private plane went down in trees near White Planes airport just after 8 a.m. Friday while taking off, officials say. The aircraft was registered to Richard Rockefeller of Falmouth, Maine.

The son of billionaire philanthropist David Rockefeller died Friday morning when his private plane crashed in bad weather while departing Westchester County Airport.

Dr. Richard Rockefeller, 65, was piloting his single-engine plane back to his Maine home on the morning after celebrating his dad?s 99th birthday, Rockefeller family spokesman Fraser Seitel said.

The pair shared a pleasant dinner Thursday night, just hours before Rockefeller?s Piper PA-46 plane left the tarmac on its disastrously brief flight at 8:08 a.m. from Runway 16.

?It's a terrible tragedy,? Seitel said. ?The family is in shock. Richard was a wonderful and cherished family member. He was an experienced pilot. He flew for years.?

Yes, because there is no such thing as an accidental plane crash.

True, but for the most part only the rich people have planes. I mean, how many friends of yours have a small private plane at the local airport?

most single engine planes are rentals from flightschools, flown by average people who cant afford or dont need their own

LOL I was expecting to see some 25 or 30 year old rich kid.

Not often do you see a 65 year old man described as 'son'. What a kick in the dentures for the 99 year old father. :Oh crap

Exactly. On average there are over 150 plane crashes per year. Most of them you never hear about because they involve small, private planes and if there are fatalities, there are usually only a few. We only hear about them when they involve someone rich and/or famous or a big airliner.
