Galaxy S 5 vs iPhone 5 -- thoughts?

I have an iPhone 5 now and I am about to switch from AT&T to T-Mobile.
I just noticed the Galaxy S 5 on TMobile's site.

Has anyone had both?
How is battery life?
Will I hate Android usability compared to IOS?

RyuLion 06-12-2014 04:49 PM

I don't buy any Apple products so will definitely get Galaxy S5..

Check this bullshit:

To buy the OnePlus One, you will need to get an invite through one of the following methods:

By asking someone who has bought a OnePlus phone for an invite. OnePlus is all about sharing the love of good products. We're so confident about our product that we've cut out the middlemen - distributors, retailers, advertisers - and let our fans do the talking. Anyone who purchases a OnePlus One will receive invites to give out to friends and family.

By entering contests and promotional events hosted on our OnePlus Forums or social media channels. We want to reward our loyal fans with the chance to experience the OnePlus One first.

By participating in contests and promotional events hosted by our partners and friends.

Everyone knows that Apple products are only sold to left-leaning electric car driving liberal-thinking granola-eating tree-hugging hippies like me.

DWB 06-12-2014 05:22 PM

I have a Galaxy S4, and I regret buying it. Samsung is full of bloated software and the battery doesn't last very long. I won't buy another one. My last phone was an HTC and it rocked, will probably get another one.

I had a Galaxy for a week, and turned it in for a Moto X. Hated that thing...it felt like a light, cheap piece of shit and the interface was horrible.

I have the Galaxy S5, it blows away any iphone or any other phone for that matter.

Thermosphere 06-12-2014 06:47 PM

After 3 iPhones (the iPhone 4 being my last) - I went Android and got the S4. When people ask me which I like better I put it like this...

The iPhone is a really nice smart phone but the S4 is a laptop in disguise as a smart phone.

Android is for users who want their phone to act like a laptop that's with you always. iPhone is for users who want to download apps and work within the limits set by those apps. I mean, I fucking torrent albums to my phone while on the go and the audio player automatically loads them into the music library and labels them... it's like they want you to torrent shit!

TidalWave 06-12-2014 07:02 PM

Someone send me an invite for the OnePlus One please

They just started shipping the first batch to the first batch of invites who paid.

You can see about importing one of these, which is basically the same phone. Imported it can be used on ATT and TMobile.

You're not a hippy Mark. Hippies hated and were untrusting of the govt. You seem to worship the ground that the govt. walks on.

Hippies protested AGAINST the govt.

Just clarifying that for you. :)

I'll probably get the new HTC when it hits stores. Everyone I know who has an HTC loves it, and I did my old one as well. However, I will say one positive thing about my S4, the video is really good. Shocking how good it is in daylight. Pics are not so good without an app to make them better, but the video is solid.

Well... hmmm... My argument would be this: I see not just the components, but the product + the software + ease of use + the support + the company + reliability + the satisfaction, who's sum is much greater than the whole. The entire "package" offers tremendous value "to me", and which I feel is perfectly priced "for me". I'm not a fanboy. I've used many other products from other companies, not just Apple.

The biggest problem with Galaxy S 5 is its size, it cant fit in my pocket, on the other hand I dont prefer apple stuffs because of their incompatibility, so none of them :)

EngineCash 06-13-2014 03:53 AM

iPhone definitely... :)

That's one of it's problems....and it has no weight to it. Not sturdy.

Apple is a kind of Sect which exploits people with big money and low IQ.

I use Galaxy :)

I have a galaxy note 2, I love it. And I love that I can have two batteries fully charged. So when one dies (which takes a very long time) I can just pop in another and Im good to go. Where my wife who has an iphone always must be near a wall socket so she can charge her phone whcih seems to have a n very short battery life.
Also once you get used to a big screen there is no going back.

pornguy 06-13-2014 05:48 AM

galaxy but root it and get rid of the bloat

I'm on Nexus 5 after using iPhone 5, man, they REALLY improved Android experience,
so S5 would be a good switch.

Hippies would also hate Apple. Tyrannical company using slave labor to advance their massive massive massive stockpile of cash. Not to mention they sue anyone that even looks at them funny.

Full disclosure, I have an iPhone 5S, but I don't pretend to have morals. :winkwink:

You wearing skinny pants or something? I carrymy S-5 in my front pocket every day and it has a larger case since it has a built in battery backup.

As far as battery life is concerned, turn off some of the b.s. apps and you will rarely use more than 75% of the battery in a bay. Turn off all the GPS stuff and the battery will last a couple days. I know it has much better battery life than the iPhone 4

I have the Galaxy note 3, and I will never go back to apple phones again. I hate being roped in by having to do everything through apple apps and do everything the "apple way".

Galaxy's are just MUCH MUCH more flexible than iphones IMHO.

I have both and am able to do as much with the iPhone (jailbroken) as I can with an Android phone (rooted). The Apple experience is a much more enjoyable experience. My Android unit is always needed to be rebooted.

You cannot blame Android if you are messing with it. I don't exactly love my S5 but it has never needed to be rebooted.

- Seem to have better designed software. You can drag and drop anything to anything almost.
- Make networking a snap.
- Talk to my other devices. My Macs talk to my iphone and my apple TV. I can share music with Tracy. I can start a movie on my mac, continue watching on my iphone, and finish watching on Apple TV. I can add a new appointment in my calendar and it updates my iphone calendar instantly, wirelessly, effortlessly.

How easy Macs are to use is years ahead of how each a windows pc is to use.

PC users, its time to start hating Apple, and start loving them. They do everything right. check this out..

First, I went to the an Apple store. Nice, bright, clean, cool, tech. CROWDED!! Lots and lots of people on both floors. I found what I wanted right away (Airport, a "wired-to -wireless" converter, and a Time Capsule which is a combination 1 TB external hard disk and 802.11n wireless router. Neat.

The tech answered all of my questions right away. He knew everything.

I went to the counter to make my purchase, and he SWIPED MY CREDIT CARD ON HIS IPHONE...!!! He then entered the item number and boom! I was all set. My credit card number gave him my full name and email account. The Bill was sent to my email account - no printing necessary. He had taken my purchase, updated his inventory, gave me a bill, completely wirelessly and without wasting paper.

I bring my purchases home and plug them in. WOW!!!!! My mac saw my time capsule and the airport, just like that. My airport saw the time capsule. The time capsule saw everything. I now had an additional 1 Terabyte of storage. Just incredible.

So speed must suck, right? No!! I was able to backup 300 Gigs of videos in no time and it was as simple as drag and drop. My PC talked effortlessly to the Internet via the Airport, and so did the printer.

Now for more fun. The Airport has an audio port on it. I plugged in some speakers, and WOW!!! Itunes on my Mac now saw the Airport, and played music via AIRTUNES. I fired up my iphone and could control the music in my house via the iPhone! WOW!!

So to sum it up. Good service, good price, great products, nothing to configure. Wow, Apple, Wow.

pc's suck.

No, definitely not a fanboy :)

I used to work for a phone company and we got to switch out our phones every day to familiarize ourselves with each one. I've always been an iPhone person but if I were to switch it would be to the motoX. If you use your phone for email, snapping a quick picture, texting and calling, go with the iPhone. If you want to hold your phone up to the sky and see where all the constellations are on your fucking screen, go with the samsung or motoX.

Neither. Not a fan of the Iphone, Galaxy S any of them, feel like they are going to break. Go with the HTC One! Solid Phone overall! IMO :thumbsup
