on the second search it hit an error.

That's the first time i've ever seen an error on google. Bizarre.

Ya its down, it will be up shortly though. I read on their site that they use around 10,000 servers to make google work, damn thats a shitload.

i dont remember how i found them the first time i used them
altavista and yahoo ruled the web when i first surfed

I can remember it clearly.

I was pulling an overnight shift with a buddy, and he asked me what search engine I was using. I dont recall what I replied, (mighta been Hotbot) but he said, 'check out google' - and i think ive used it every time since then, well over 4 years I guess.

Similar story here.
