Yellowstone About To Blow?
|
|
That is a scary thought actually. Nuclear winter for the planet. I guess greenhouse farming will be a huge business.

the swarm is certainly important, but small in the overall context of Yosemite, from what I can gather. Would you agree whp?
The only difference it will all make to me, living in socal, is maybe getting a couple minute heads-up on how I'm going to go out. |
Yeah, scientists are confident that within the next 10,000 years it will definitely blow. Big deal, who wants to live forever?
|
Shit I just bought property 2 states south.

I can just see it now...it takes us all out (as only nature can)...and crockett and Mark Prince will STILL claim it's mankind's fault. lol

I've got Yosemite on the brain, we're having a family get together there this summer and it's all my mom can talk about! yes, Yellowstone, not Yosemite, is what I was referring to. :1orglaugh |
It's been ready to blow for thousands of years. It'll probably be ready to blow long after we've wiped ourselves off the planet by other means.
The three eruptions happened: 2.1 million years ago 1.2 million years ago 640, 000 years ago Consider how long we've been around and do the math on the odds. It's a long shot. But, if you were into trends, you could say the eruption time is cut roughly in half for each subsequent eruption -- so it should have blown about 300,000 years ago, which means we're overdue by 300, 000 years. |
devil's playground all up through there, cascadia fault region off the coast, that's why that regionis so purdy. beautiful really.

Seriously, this is the one even i worry about. Mostly because it will wipe out a decent sized region. Throw most of the world into a winter which could last a few years to a decade. Scarier than that though is the havoc it will cause in certain industries. Nuclear especially. During a nuclear winter so to speak, that is the only time we should be reliant on nuclear power. However i suspect many plants go offline for awhile or worse. |

However somehow they manage to get Global warming "right" in his eyes despite getting pretty much everything else wrong. Go figure.. :arcadefre |

I don't take my thoughts from ANY politician or political group. Man, you just don't understand that concept of independent thought do you? Pathetic. |

I also KNOW that if this was the year 1970...you would be agreeing with the "thousands of scientists (lol) who said that if Pres. Nixon didn't take immediate action that the entire East Coast of the U.S. would be underwater by the year 2000. And then those exact same "thousands of scientists" proclaimed in 1977 (just seven years later) that an ICE AGE was coming instead! And YOU would be acting superior and calling me a "denier" and rambling about "science". Here's the cover of Time Magazine: http://scienceblogs.com/gregladen/fi...Cooling_11.gif I prefer to use common sense, and my understanding of who PAYS all these scientists. They all work for funding and grant money and come to whatever conclusions they are told to. Whether they are oil company scientists or green energy scientists. The East Coast didn't even go one inch "underwater" by 2000, and there was no Ice Age in 1977. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. |
Anyone who cannot see that Global Warming is the result of human activity (i.e.: the emission of greenhouse gasses) is a stupid moron :2 cents:
Anyone who cannot see that Global Warming is having a dangerous effect on our current lives let alone the lives of our children and their children - not to mention the environment - is also a stupid moron. |

UN Think Tank - Club of Rome ?The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself." |
I think this is not a thing to be laugh at. This really can be very serious trouble in the future...
