not much, it's just the top stars that get a whole lot but the smaller fish never get more then an average pay.

What is average? 1 mil a year?

To own a house worth that much means you must be earning insane amounts per year. That is just bananas. He throws a piece of cow hide around a grassy patch.

slapass 06-06-2014 03:53 AM

His wife is/was the highest paid supermodel. Sort of helps.

Well, that would definitely help.

Does he still play? Just looked up his profile and he is 37.

UniqueD 06-06-2014 04:09 AM

He still plays, probably another 2 years or so left in him i would guess. This was last year:

"A breakdown of Brady's pact, according to a person who reviewed details of the deal, reveals that the total signing bonus for the five-year, $57 million contract is $30 million ? which includes $3 million in new money and $27 million that was due to Brady from his previous deal that is converted into a signing bonus for salary cap accounting. The new agreement replaces the four-year, $72 million extension that took effect in 2011, one year after Brady signed it."

Maybe.

But many who also make lots of money have no idea how to manage it and end up overspending and then finding themselves unable to maintain the lifestyle.

A 40 million dollar house must cost $50,000 per year in property taxes alone! Then heating/cooling/electrical/water/gas/ (likely $30k), outdoor maintenance (no idea: say $15k), house maintenance ($20k) and on ...

So it costs over $100k per year to just maintain a house of that size. Doable for mega stars but one day the money doesn't come in like it used to.

slapass 06-06-2014 04:11 AM

He still plays and he is like Messi if Messi won his team 5 championships. He is around 20 million USD a year.

You missed the article. They bought it for 11 million 5 years ago, remodeled it and sold it for 40 million. He must have done ok on it.

They are staggering numbers.

Our football teams have $3 million salary caps to cover an entire team (20 players).

It costs more than $100k to keep a 50' boat - that house would be way way more than that to maintain.

modeling. she has all the top paying contracts. Not sure how they're structured but I've read she can increase brand sales 40% so perhaps she also get a % of sales.

the next highest paid model makes substantially less than her.

Supz 06-06-2014 06:58 AM

His current contract is 6 Year 70 Million. He got a 30 Million dollar signing bonus. This is just from 2013-2017 seasons. Prior to that he was the best QB in the NFL. I cannot find what he made before that, but it was probably something similar to this. He is also endorsed by many products including Uggs. Which he probably gets between 2-10 Million a year for just that 1 endorsement. Although he is not the normal paid NFL player. He is talked about being one of the best players of all time. Also, the NFL is the richest of all sports leagues in the US. Footballers in Europe are no different.

Oh yea. His wife makes about the same. They probably pull in close to 100 Million a year between them.

seeandsee 06-06-2014 06:59 AM

why they buy such big houses anyway?
why do you need such big house?

scuba steve 06-06-2014 07:08 AM

he also makes a ton in endorsements. vaguely remember off the top of my head, i think tag, gilette, i'm sure there are others. he's been around a long time too. i've never heard of him having gambling problems or blowing 100k in the strip club. he is prolly responsible with his cash

Wizzo 06-06-2014 07:10 AM

Player's collectively get around 48% of the total revenue made, but its nothing compared to the owners who get the other 52% and are a much smaller group. :winkwink:

Very cool stat

OldJeff 06-06-2014 09:53 AM

Brady probably easily brings down 100 mil a year in endorsements, top sports stars are gods in the US advertising world

deltav 06-06-2014 10:23 AM

Major League Baseball has even larger contracts. Football (soccer) aren't far behind - Messi & Ronaldo each make over 20 million per year, plus many tens of millions in endorsements and their total contracts are in the hundreds of millions (tho I dunno offhand how much of those are truly guaranteed).

Professional sports is a seriously fucked up misappropriation of resources from a moral standpoint - that money could surely go towards more productive causes - but hey, the market created those salaries. We watch games, buy merchandise, eat all that stuff up, we've indirectly enabled those $$$ to become totally insane.

PornDiscounts-V 06-06-2014 10:38 AM

His wife is a whore. Just saying.

or they can afford gigantic mortgages.. A lot of these guys go broke after they retire and this is a good example as to why. Although in brady's case he does make a lot more money with endorsements i'm sure..

take that same argument and replace it with movies and actors.

Do you watch movies or tv? The answer is yes so lets not pretend we don't all do the same thing here..

CDSmith 06-06-2014 10:44 AM

Show me the money: Colin Kaepernick has received a monster contract extension from the San Francisco 49ers. Kaepernick gets a six-year contract extension worth more than $110 million -- including a record $61 million guaranteed. It works out to roughly 18-million per season.

All he needs is to find a supermodel wife and he'll officially be the new Brady.

J. Falcon 06-06-2014 10:53 AM

Isn't that how MC Hammer went broke?

Sure, I'm a big sports fan too. No judging here, just saying that yes the salaries are insane but it's a monster we've created.
