Yo Obama, Scotland's independence vote has NOTHING to do with you

So kindly, shut the fuck up :)

Quote:

Barack Obama today pleaded with Scotland to vote 'No' to independence - and for Brits to stay in the EU.
The US President said the union between England and Scotland had 'worked pretty well' and should stay together.
He also said it was 'hard to imagine' how leaving Europe could be good for Britain - and even claimed that things would not 'go well' in Europe without the UK.

I'd rather be taxed off a Scottish government than the current English Tory government who were not voted in up here and would never be voted in up here... :2 cents:

How do you mean ?

Countries make decisions all the time which affect other countries, whether it's financial, or other.

A vote for independence can only lie at one countries door, and one only.

For the record, i don't think there's any chance it will happen anyway. And of course, it comes with huge risks. But the way i see it, it's a simple question we are voting for, "should you be independent ?". Who in the world would say no to that?

I couldn't even imagine ticking the "No" box to be honest...

Eventually we would all be "independent" if we thought like you. Not really the best choice. So I can see people ticking no.

Yes, Russia should have a vote about the Ukraine, Spain should decide whether Catalan gets independence, and the UK should have voted on whether America got its freedom.

Great idea.

why not? Its no difference if say, the French Canadians got the choice as to whether Canada should be split in two but the English speaking Canadians were told they would have no say in the matter.

Only people in Quebec had the option to vote, not the rest of Canada.

All the Wallace-esque war cries are quite frankly silly. What would Scotland gain out of all this compared to what it would lose. Are we seriously taking a Salmond run government seriously?

I think it's better the devil you know and that Scotland would be a lot less better off should this actually go through.

It's surprising that UK still exists.

Before Ukraine last month, the last European country to massacre its own citizens using armed force was the UK, 42 years ago.

WDF 06-06-2014 04:15 PM

I thought a mention of a previous Bloody Sunday from 1905 might be in order.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Sunday_%281905%29

or perhaps the 1991 event in Lithuania that was referred to as Bloody Sunday by some.

The Scottish people wanted and got a Scottish parliament a few years ago.

What is the point in having a parliament, when you are still under English rule ?

The UK is currently run by idiots, and yes no doubt Scotland would be run by idiots too. America is run by an idiot, Russia, the list goes on.

Everyone knows there will be good points and bad points. But again, the question of "should you be in charge of your own house?". Of course!

But you are not, you are under British rule, there is a difference. Scotland and Wales have their own parliaments, England does not, in fact you already have more independence than England does.

seeandsee 06-07-2014 07:18 AM

Scotland freedom or Scotland under England :)

Ross 06-07-2014 05:38 PM

I used to be against the Yes vote but the more I read up on it, the more I am coming round to Scotland having its independance. My only concern is the amount of complete morons in Scotland who are only going to vote "Yes" to stick it to England, they are clueless people who shouldn't even be allowed a vote. I see people posting on FB about Yes vote but they can't even tell you why they want it other than because "Fuck England".

It'll be interesting either way and I think Alex Salmond is only doing this to go down in history, his ego is so big that he doesn't give a damn about the implications, he simply wants to be the man that got independance, regardless if it's good for his own people or not. Fuck Alex Salmond, fat little bastard.

We need more people thinking clearly like you obviously are. The "Yes" vote is a tool to stroke Salmond's own ego and the benefits to Scotland as a whole are minimal.

It's all well and dandy when we take the piss out of England for not qualifying to the next stage of a world cup, but this is now more than just a game. Scotland's entire future rests on this and people need to think rationally and clearly about what they are buying into.

Jel 06-08-2014 04:25 AM

Isn't a vote for independence just a tantrum of 'we don't like the tories'?

I agree with that. None of my thoughts on voting Yes are to do with the "Fuck England" mentality (even though some people here seem to suggest it is). Half of my cousins are English FYI.

For me it is 100% to do with believing that you should be in control of your own affairs whether it's political or economic decisions, by the people of Scotland, for the people of Scotland.

Yes Alex Salmond is a cunt, but people need to remember, it isn't a vote for him. Or his party.

An independence vote goes way, way beyond that....

They are very pro eu,they even want to instantly join to EU but that wont be possible due EU regulations, they would have to suck it same way as other countries joining EU before. They also want to keep british pounds but they will have to take EURO as that is obligation when joining EU.Another problem is,how Spain might permanently block them to join due Catalonia issue. That is used as reason why they should vote no.
