Netbilling's new interface

Hey Netbilling, congrats on the new interface. It looks real slick and it loads fast, good clean design, modern etc.

I really hate it though, and it's mostly because I don't like to have my routine interrupted, -it makes me want to hurt people but instead I just have a Rain Man breakdown and start talking to myself about fish sticks.

Here's what I hate the most: I use the "search members by email" function constantly, like all day long. You have not only added an additional mouse click to reach that form, but I also have to dance around with a very annoying "expand on hover" menu to get to it. So that's an extra hour every day fiddling with menus just to find a link that used to be right in the sidebar.

As long as you guys are fixing things up, could you make that member search easier to grab quickly? and make it default to some search type (like email addresses) instead of making us use the dropdown menu every time? You could literally make it default to anything and it would be more useful. I almost always search by email, I never search by "choose search type".

And I would really like it if some day, you could allow me to search by join IP address.

Here's the rest of my wish list:

1) A link to view (if any) additional memberships using the same email, IP, billing address or card #. when looking at member or transaction details.
2) A field that displays card flags in the transaction detail report.
3) A way to limit prepaid cards from memberships with a low cost initial. (like trials) currently the choices are: allow for all, allow for none or allow only for one time purchases.
4) Multiple fraud defense tiers, so trusted affiliates with a good history don't have to have the same scrub as new affiliates who's quality is unknown.
5) The date and time stamp in the "issued" field of the transaction detail report be changed to some format that excel can read and sort in chronological order without having to manually strip out the days of the week.

Sorry if I come across as being negative, you guys are doing a great job and I think you know I love you by now. But please don't make my job harder.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

Change is hard sometimes but this is much more mobile friendly, faster and we will continue to evolve it, I am passing all these notes to the programmers....

Thanks so much for your input.

Mitch

Expand on hover can be good but mostly it seems to give me a hard time.
I'm tempted to use it sometimes but I always decide on something else.

I like very simple client areas that are very functional and sometimes this is lost when "cool" design becomes important.

venus 06-04-2014 12:10 AM

I never use a mobile device to do anything with netbilling...if I have to be in the admin area then its because I am working and all my work stuff is on my computer. I am surprised anyone would be using a mobile device to do work on

Based on previous login analysis, merchants check stats on their smart phones regularly and also do a lot of work on iPads as well.

Hey Mitch...my Stats Remote stopped checking stats with the new interface. I reported it to Stats Remote but they only have an empty test account and don't see it happening with theirs.

Can you have somebody get with them to help them reconfigure for the new interface?

Mitch

I didn't realize people used netbilling to check stats, I would have never thought of that. I use it to clear my customer service queue and to check for fraud. I would never attempt either of those things on a mobile device as I need to run a lot of open tabs, spreadsheets and ideally several monitors for maximum efficiency.

I am sure you know what your overall customer base needs better than I do but I know what I need and its not for my work environment to get less desktop friendly.

Every time I see things shifting more towards mobile and away from desktop I find myself cursing "those damn milennial kids" and fantasize about hitting a mouth-breathing, stocking cap wearing, selfie taking iphone user with my car.

Hi Robbie,

I can't imagine why stats remote would use our admin at all when we have a robust data retrieval interface API.

Please have them contact one of our support staff.

Thanks, Mitch

dyna mo 06-04-2014 08:42 AM

the new interface won't work for me since it eliminated find transaction by first and last name. Y'all tried to eliminate that once before when you implemented the Transactions(new) link so I called and asked to have the old transactions search by name back, I think Eddie put it back in for me. Can that be put back in the new interface, I need to use it a lot.

Hi,

Please submit any requests to [email protected]

Thanks, Mitch

They use it because I requested it for my stats remote so I can keep all my hundreds of revenue generating accounts in one program and see what my totals overall are every day.

But never mind. I already made them a limited user login and they are figuring it out now.

Hi - ok they can contact support with any questions but it is more efficient to use our dri API.

dyna mo 06-04-2014 10:41 AM

thanks Mitch, Other than the search function, I can see making the transition to the new interface, it shouldn't take me to long to get acclimated.

I agree. Not a fan of the extra click to get to the "search members" menu.

Perhaps a customizable "favorites" section, where we can put our most used links in the admin? I only use a handful of them anyway, so it sure beats digging through them all trying to find the one I need.

NaughtyRob 06-04-2014 11:01 AM

Hey pompousjohn hit me up, can't find your icq/contact info.

Hi Adam and John,

With the new admin, you can bookmark favorite pages....

Previously, several of the searches that you mentioned did not
have a default setting for the search type. We have since resolved that
by examining our server logs and setting the default as the most
commonly used search type used for each of the following searches:
Events, Invoices, Members, Merchants, Neg. DB Rules and Transactions.

For a merchant that spends much of his or her day on a single page in
the admin, it is simple to set a bookmark to any of the search pages
on the admin so that the oft-used page is always within one click
away. This is a major enhancement over the old interface as, with the
framed layout, it was impossible to set bookmarks for pages within one
of the frames without losing the menu.

In the major browsers, you would do the following to create a bookmark:

Firefox:
To create a bookmark, click the star in the toolbar. The star will turn
blue and a bookmark for the page you're on will be created in the
Unsorted Bookmarks folder.

Chrome (https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95739?hl=en)
The easiest way to create a bookmark is to click the star icon in the
address bar or typing Ctrl+D (Mac: ⌘-D)

Safari (http://www.wikihow.com/Add-a-Bookmark-in-Safari)
The easiest way to create a bookmark is to type ⌘-D)

Let me know if there is anything else that we can assist you with.

Mitch

Didn't know you can bookmark to one of the pages inside the admin. I've always just bookmarked the login screen. I'll give that a try.

iSpyCams 06-04-2014 03:15 PM

I just noticed the member search defaults to email, Thanks so much!

We are quite happy and use too off old version and keep on using the old one... Simple and easy to understand and navigate.... but still good effort from NetBilling

NETbilling 06-05-2014 08:11 AM

The old admin will be gone in June 17 so get used to the new one.

As far as I know this was resolved 2 days ago. If not let me know via email and I will get it handled.

Took a look at the changes this week and I love it. There is virtually no leaning curve. :thumbsup
