I'm loving my electric car!!

Ok I just had to post this. I picked up my Chevy Volt a few days ago and have been driving it all over the place. I'm at about 200 kilometres already, and have not spent a penny on gas (Gas tank is empty). Instead, my total electricity bill so far is a whopping $2.53. (200 kilometers / 78.85 = 2.53 Charges at 3.5 Hours each, or 8.85 Hours. 240 Volts x 16 Amps = 3.6 Kilowatts X $0.0795 (Cost of Electricity) = $0.28. $0.28 X 8.85 Hours = $2.53).

If you take your car out often and your ride to work is less than 40 miles, you should consider getting one of these.

Ok I promise - enough about electric cars now. Please post picture someone beating a dead horse or whatever you want.

What percent of the work building your car was preformed by Republicans and will you seek warranty work based solely on their political standing?

seeandsee 05-30-2014 02:28 PM

how much did you paid that?

No because even republicans can change for the better. ;)

Offpeak - 10.25c per kWh

Volt at -5

Volt at -18

Volt in the snow

Not too worried. According to various stats the battery range can lose about 13 miles (20 Kilometers) but apparently still works great.

Based on the timeframe of GM's current recalls on other vehicles - you shouldn't have to worry about a recall until 2022.

That's only 8 years of wondering what .35-cent part will catch fire, fall off...malfunction.

First Chevy Volts arrive at local dealer ?..

You can build you a carport with solar panels on top to charge the car. Great investment.

I'm curious Mark if the news today out of the GOP will make you rethink your car purchase.

Wife has a Leaf. We drive it all over the place. Fun and never have to think about gas.

We also have two other cars with supercharged V8s to offset the hippieness... :)

Reminds me of a buddy I know who drives a Smart car back and forth to work. Leaves the Escalade at home in the garage.

$2.53?
How much is that in real money being Canadian money looks like Monopoly money?

bronco67 05-31-2014 07:41 AM

It's going to take a lot more than that to not look like total assholes.

My wife was spending about $400 a month in gas just driving to the gym and grocery store, both about 5 miles from the house.

Leaf with every option was $299 a month :)

Paying 40k for Chevy Volt is not cheap. By saving on gas it won't make sense.

You can get Chevy Cruise for 20k. And you have extra 20k to spend on gas for like 5+ yrs.
