Fat Panda 05-30-2014 08:07 AM

depends what model

e-class for sure

Rochard 05-30-2014 08:14 AM

I am not impressed by Mercedes.

I remember a time when Mercedes was rare in the US, hard to come by, and could only be afforded by doctors. Now you can put $2k down and lease one for $200 a month. It doesn't matter to me if you drive a $30k Mercedes or one that costs $100k; They all look the same to me.

(The only exception is that SLS Roadster - that is just beautiful!)

VikingMan 05-30-2014 08:17 AM

Everyone with money drives Tesla, Audi, BMW, Porsche where I live. I rarely see Mercedes.

Nothing beats a big Mercedes S Class.

You can add the AMG GT to your list of exceptions once it's announced at the Paris Motor Show in October.

leasing is for posers & company slaves.

nico-t 05-30-2014 09:13 AM

as well as 'buying' a car with a loan.

30 year loan? On a car? Are you fucking retarded?

Oh, I forgot who I was talking to.

You are lucky you have internet access. Is it dial up? Using those extra AOL Online CD's as coasters? :1orglaugh

Yeah because Ford Mustangs are EXTREMELY impressive automobiles :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Ross 05-30-2014 11:28 AM

Anyone in the USA who has a Mercedes and says that it proves how successful they are, is an idiot. We get American tv commercials, the pricing on leasing over in Michigan is unbelievable! $359 a month for a brand new Mercedes, $419 a month for a brand new BMW 3 series. My wife and I are in constant shock at how cheap these nice cars are in the US.

romeo22 05-30-2014 11:30 AM

if its more then 30yo than its oldtimer :winkwink:

michael.kickass 05-30-2014 11:53 AM

It depends on which Mercedes of course.

bronco67 05-30-2014 11:54 AM

I live in one the 5 most expensive counties in the US. There's a good mix of rich, middle class and poor. There's a lot of Mercedes and BMWs driving around.

I know some of these people who have these expensive cars, and I also know I make more money than they do. It's called being "car poor". Just be glad if you're one of the people who don't have something broken inside of them and needs to look better than the next guy.

It's funny when I see an expensive Mercedes parked on the street all year round, because the motherfucker who owns it doesn't have a garage -- or an actual house.

pornguy 05-30-2014 11:55 AM

Yep Mercedes. Status Symbol to the Rich. errr. and a Taxi in Europe.

SGS 05-30-2014 12:02 PM

Had our SL500 for about 5 years now. Bought it new, it lives in the garage, it's only done 3000 miles, it's not fast, doesn't handle very well, suitcase won't fit into it but wouldn't change it for anything. It's just a summer toy with a great roof and it doesn't owe us a penny.

Ssshh...didn't you read the comments in the thread? :winkwink:

thegreatestporn 05-30-2014 02:41 PM

Meh, I live in LA by a major studio so "nice" cars are a dime a dozen. Everyone has to have the "look". Then you see their house...or studio apartment.

bxy 05-30-2014 02:48 PM

Mercedes do not impress me, I currently own three SL500, 450SL, a little 120e. But then again I have easily 1 large tied up in cars, n that is why I am a broke ass bitch.

best post of the thread!

Seth Manson 05-30-2014 07:32 PM

Someone's home may impress me, but not their car. I know too many people with nice incomes that drive what I would consider to be just ordinary vehicles.

Penny24Seven 05-30-2014 07:50 PM

I hate when people think that when they say how great something is that you own. That doesn't mean shit and show you how they think when they say that. Just the fact that they base it on that says it all

bean-aid 05-30-2014 08:07 PM

Does it come with an employee and a basement? If so... sign me up for none

And a taxi in most middle eastern countries too.

What someone drives is not necessarily a reflection of their wealth. The late mega billionaire Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart, used to drive a beat-up pickup truck.

Years ago when I worked in retail it almost went without saying that if a guy came in with a nice car like a Benz and a nice watch/suit etc and applied for a store credit card they would almost always get turned down because they have tapped out all their credit supporting their lifestyle.

editeur 05-31-2014 02:03 AM

The True Merc is G-Klasse, even more True the one with Brabus tuning. You dare to say the owner he's not successful.

i believe Sid is in Poland like me so yes we do have net here, even in my shitty city i have 1mbit which is enough for me, some guys have up to 50bit - i don't want so many would force me to buy more harddrives to store to many crap ;)

what makes you think we do not have internet in poland?

and yes, banks always trying to offer biggest possible loan, thats strange as well for you?

say: you wanna buy a 300k PLN car (100k USD) you kinda need loan usually in Poland.

just sharing my 2c since you obviously don't know much about eastern europe mate..

MaDalton 05-31-2014 03:48 AM

our Mercedes is from 1998 and did cost $5k when we bought it.

that's how successful we are ;)

Stephen 05-31-2014 04:36 AM

My first ride in a Mercedes about 30 yrs ago, was expecting something like a Crown Vic. I was disappointed.

SekobA 05-31-2014 06:08 AM

i can not afford Mercedes

SilentKnight 05-31-2014 07:05 AM

The two cars in my driveway are both German engineered - North American built. :cool-smil

But I enjoy my mountain bike the most. :)

Success to me is being fit and healthy - a svelte 172lbs at 50 yrs. old.

I know when I have nice cars it's for me....love the workmanship in the interior the driving experience, etc.... never really cared what those outside viewing me thought :2 cents:
