anyone know cheap shortrun dvd duplicator???
ideally batches of 100 dvds.

Penny24Seven 05-27-2014 06:18 PM

buy one on ebay 14X1, make 14 copies at a time. Takes about 6 minutes for a full DVD.
Doesn't need a computer to run. Sit it next to you while you work and bust out 1000 DVDs in a day. Mine has made over 100,000 DVDs and only one drive went out during that whole time.

Didn't realize that duplicators have come down so much in price.

Here's a 7x1 for under $350

think its worth it to diy or go with a company to do it?
issue with a company is the have minimums and i dont want to get stuck with copies.
i need them ready for retail... shrink wrapped , cases, etc

Captain Kawaii 05-27-2014 06:44 PM

There's a company in the valley. You can make a thousand for a few hundred bucks.

There are plenty of shops in LA who will do 100 or so but it is not cheap.

Probably Brian is the guy to ask for that. I have not gone the diy route. Thinking about it myself since it is popular with models where I am now.

The DIY duplication is easy.

Its the on-dvd artwork that is expensive.

Not anymore I have a printer that prints full color right to dvds or cds I bought it a few years ago for $100 bux prob less now. I got a dvd/cd duplicator back then for like 300 only did 4 at a time or 5 I forget but definitely best to do it yourself if you plan do it more than once. When you print on the disc you're ready for retail they look great and shrink wraping just requires a hair dryer and some plastic wrap.

Epson Artisan 730 there is a whole line of epson Artisans you can even print tshirts. I had to go look at model etc since ink died it's been in corner unused since ink is more than printer, however for these they do have kits on ebay that only cost 50 or 100 bux and run non-stop I need to get one.

I used to do a lot for local distribs.

Have a duplicator with 7 slaves , pulling the image from a hard drive ( you can put them in trays to swap ) .
Used Epson printer ( 4 of them ) to print directly on CD and print sleeves. All printers were fed with CIS ( otherwise ink cost will kill you )

COST in Canada at the time:

- blank printable DVD 0.13
- case 0.15
- Kodak paper ( glossy ) 0.28
- shrink wrap : 0.10 ( had my shrink wrap machine, but you can buy '' inserts '' that you seal with no heat gun

Total : 0.66

pretty much that
blank sony dvd 23 cents
dvd cover and the dvd case. I bought the cases on ebay by the 1000 and they were pretty cheap.
They have an easy way to print labels and stick them on the dvds.
The way I did it and this was very important because doing this on your own will take a lot of hours.
I got 3 of the girls I work with and we got in a line and each one of us did one part including the shrink wrap too. You can buy all this stuff on ebay very cheap. I would have all the dvds already burned and in one day we could bust out about 1000 of them all packaged and ready to go. Sold them to stores for 8-12 bucks each.
I think my cost for a finished dvd was 87 cents.
