I got lucky when I visited, the smog level was very low because of the weather. I know in Shanghai they only have electric scooters, those damn things are everywhere.

I saw a lot of new cars on the road from the comfort of our tour bus. The way they drive over there is nuts.

Can't be much worse than the way the women drive here. I had another close encounter with one earlier today... :disgust

It is, their way of driving is completely different, not sure how it works, but get this, I saw a busy 3 lanes intersection, that's 3 lanes going each direction. It had no signal lights and walking bridges and it worked!

As it was explained to me, the traffic laws were more of a suggestion

no speed traps there, the cops drive around with the lights lit up at all times.

LA is bad enough, I ride my bike almost every day here and people are just too busy texting others on how great a driver they are!

Bad smog there means bad smog everywhere.

The US can pass all the smog control they want, won't do a lot of good till the whole world does it

Ever take a drive on that North-Southbound tollway going around Chicago? White knuckle indy-500 driving at it's finest, with like four lanes of traffic (each side) expanding into like 17 or 20 lanes going into each toll booth area, then it's GO time as all of those vehicles jockey at interstate speeds for one of the 4 lanes it narrows back into. And they do that about every five or ten miles.

Pure insanity.

China would be a walk in the park after that, trust me.

hey, good for them. That's going to make a difference over time.

That is good. More countries should do that.

They sometimes do that in Japan. Lights on and giving locals warnings about current crimes or criminals in the area. A kind of en garde thing. Drivers are very polite here and always give right of way to schoolgirls.

More than 50% of China is toxic. Farmlands are dead due to their toxic waste and pollution. Sad.
